JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Manager, Automation and Controls Engineering at our Moen Brand distribution center, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliable operation of automated machinery, conveyor systems, robotics, and more. You will lead a team and perform both preventive maintenance and repairs, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with our team of engineers to optimize equipment performance. Additionally, you’ll maintain accurate documentation, update the CMMS system, and support facility management efforts to sustain a high-performing environment.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, with strong mechanical and electrical skills. You should be proficient in troubleshooting conveyors, robotics, PLCs, and automated systems. Knowledge of preventative maintenance, problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and safety procedures are essential.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5+ years Engineering, Maintenance, or related Operations experience
  • Demonstrated experience leading Engineering and Maintenance teams in Manufacturing or Distribution environment including goal setting, establishing performance standards, and driving employee engagement, accountability, and enablement.
  • Demonstrated experience with controls systems and controls integration. Previous experience with Allen Bradley, FactoryTalk, Logix 5000, RSLinx, Rockwell Software, Rockwell Automation, Studio 000 Logix, or equivalent Logix’s experience, automation and controls development, PLC and HMI program development, AB PowerFlex Series drives.
  • Development, support and troubleshooting of Intelligrated software.
  • Experience with Manufacturing/Distribution Improvement Methodologies, ie: Continuous Improvement, Six Sigma, 5S, Lean Manufacturing/Distribution. Project management experience including design, development, and implementation.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee all aspects of Facility Management and Maintenance operations including facility aesthetics, ownership of equipment and plant facility performance, management and execution of on-going preventative maintenance plans, and management of continuous improvement projects.
  • Lead a 4/6 person maintenance staff engaged in equipment installation, facilities repair, equipment repair and preventative maintenance. Schedules repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment.
  • Support the growth and development of Maintenance team members.
  • Lead and execute engineering projects for the facility. Establish engineering expectations for future automation and new technology (advance engineering/distribution). Purpose and manage capital projects.
  • Lead and set expectations for the coordination of all engineering functions including process development, training, and capital projects.
  • Supervise the continuous improvement process. Assist operations management in developing and establishing performance standards and KPI’s in conjunction with new equipment installations or process changes.
  • Develop with the DC Manager, Director, Distribution Engineering, Capital Expenditure Budget and individual Capital Expenditure submissions for approval.
  • Actively participate on project teams contributing as the automation subject matter expert regarding system capabilities and system design decisions.
  • Provide strategic leadership in developing the Distribution Center’s processes, systems, policies and procedures setting the future direction of the engineering function.
  • Lead the startup of new/existing operations by ensuring code and configurations meet specifications and validation requirements. Stay current on technologies and engineering trends in order to recommend/incorporate as appropriate.
  • Ensure complete and detailed specifications and related technical documentation is provided that clearly defines user needs and system functionality for new automation systems or modifications to existing systems.
  • Provide supporting data from automation systems to support production or quality department requests.
  • Lead structural improvement processes to ensure housekeeping and sanitation.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and promote accident prevention by setting expectations and addressing unsafe behaviors. Provide technical leadership and ensure site compliance for all regulatory agencies.
  • Manage labor/overhead budget to optimize resources and cost-efficiency. Identify, implement, and execute cost-savings initiatives. Leverage resources effectively to meet DC KPI’s per budget standards.
