JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Support Director in the administrative and operational functions of biomedical engineering (BME) services.
  • Plan, organise, lead and direct the BME functions to be consistent with the mission and goals of the hospital.
  • Oversee all activities and personnel in the defined scope of services.
  • Ensure smooth operations of the various departments’ BME requirements.
  • Responsible for the daily operations, including budgeting, recruitment, training and overall performance of the department.
  • Lead and implement improvement projects in line with hospital’s overall strategic direction.
  • Formulate and review the department’s policies, procedures, work instructions and standards.
  • Develop and direct programme to operate BME systems in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Manage and administer maintenance service contracts for related services, ensuring that the maintenance schedules are properly set-up and carried out within desired quality and cost.
  • Ensure budget plans are properly implemented and objectives met.
  • Ensure that hospital’s policies and directives are effectively communicated to staff, compliance monitored and corrective action taken when necessary.
  • Lead and manage for excellence in service quality.
  • Maintain a high standard of professional service by being a resource person providing guidance, leadership and training for staff.
  • Liaise with external agencies, Ministry of Health, other hospitals, foreign institutions, educational and professional bodies on administrative, operational and professional matters.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree or Diploma in Engineering with at least 5 years of relevant experience and 2 years in supervisory position.
  • Candidates with exposure to healthcare and practical knowledge of hospital operations, clinical operation units and project management will have an added advantage.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Driven, passionate and service oriented.
  • Able to exercise initiative, manage pressure, multi-task and work independently in a fast paced environment.
