Bring Your Expertise in Facility Management and Operations
To Our Newly Renovated Building
CPA Ontario is currently in search of a Manager, Building Operations who will be responsible for the daily operations and maintenance of our Bloor Street location in Toronto. This role will oversee and manage all capital projects, working with our existing Facilities team, and includes leadership of two direct reports.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Ensuring that all physical equipment and systems are operating, maintained and monitored effectively including including boilers, chillers, cooling tower, generator, elevators, lighting, and BAS (building automation system). Developing and implementing preventative maintenance programs.
Ensuring physical security of the building and property including interior and exterior entrances, exits, building card access systems, security camera operations and ensuring proper onsite security services when required.
Developing a fire safety plan in collaboration with the City of Toronto Fire and Emergency services and in compliance with the Ontario Fire Code and which ensures the safety of personnel and building occupants. Ensuring regular maintenance, inspection and testing of the fire alarm system and equipment and responsible for evacuation planning and fire drills.
Creating Emergency Preparedness plans, establishing safety protocols and practices and serving on the Joint Health and Safety Committee as a subject matter expert. Participating in disaster recovery planning.
Planning and design of capital projects and future construction, working with general contractors, architects and engineers. Preparing capital construction documents including cost planning, cost estimating, specifications, and drawings.
Overseeing landscaping & waste management programs ensuring best practices and reduction of energy consumption and maximizing landfill diversion.
Overseeing daily facility operations and leadership of a team responsible for the mail room, receiving dock and beyond. Managing contracts, service level agreements and operational planning.
Who You Are:
A post-secondary graduate or completed an apprenticeship or license along with 5 years of consecutive experience in commercial building systems operation. Building Environmental Systems (BES) certification is required.
Experienced with managing the safe and efficient operation of a complex building or plant and proficient in the operation and maintenance of building mechanical and electrical systems. Construction knowledge is an asset.
Experienced with BAS (building automation systems) programs for managing mechanical and electrical systems. Familiarity with security systems an asset.
A strong people leader with proven success in leading, building, mentoring and motivating a team.
Familiar with all relevant codes and regulations that govern facility operations and computerized maintenance management systems.
Trained in safe work practices including MSDS and First Aid. Experienced with emergency response, including hazardous materials response including containment and at least 3 years of customer and occupant service experience.
Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams and able to learn new tools.
Well organized with superior problem-solving abilities and able to resolve unique challenges and think critically to resolve issues.
A strong communicator with the ability to deal with others using tact, diplomacy and professionalism while building relationships with ease.
Able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines while effectively planning and executing multiple projects and deliverables simultaneously.
Available to work weekends or evenings and on call hours as required.
