JOB DESCRIPTION
The Architecture and Engineering Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities in the architecture and engineering sectors. This role involves fostering relationships with clients, understanding market trends, and driving revenue growth by strategically positioning the firm’s services. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, industry experience, and a proven ability to generate and close deals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or client management within the architecture, engineering, or construction (AEC) industry
- Strong understanding of architectural and engineering principles, design processes, and construction industry standards
- Familiarity with project management methodologies, bidding processes, and contract negotiations in the AEC sector
- Proven track record of identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities
- Experience in building strategic partnerships and maintaining long-term A&E relationships
- Ability to develop and execute business development strategies to drive revenue growth
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for client presentations, proposals, and negotiations
- Strong ability to network and engage with key stakeholders, including architects, engineers, developers, and government entities
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to develop creative and strategic solutions.
- Proficiency in Sales force software, business intelligence tools, and project management platforms and familiarity with CAD software, BIM , Revit technology, and other industry-specific tools is a plus
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and coordinating with internal departments to support business objectives.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with architects, engineers, and senior management
- Frequent travel will be required during the execution of the duties of the Business Development Manager – A&E – Canada

Responsibilities:
- Identify, engage with, develop and nurture relationships with relevant individuals in consulting firms and entities such as security consultants, security system design consultants, M&E and MEP consultants and consulting and design divisions that may exist within end user, government, corporate and standards bodies
- Seek out opportunities to have Motorola Solutions Canada considered for and included within security solution designs, via utilization of Motorola Solutions Canada specific A&E specifications, functional engineering specifications, approved and named product vendor status, adoption of Motorola Solutions Canada unique features and capabilities
- Work as a contributor/manager to achieve new A&E vertically oriented partners and sales within the region
- Create and execute the assigned sector business plan, update and modify quarterly to reflect market changes/innovations and/or technology acquisitions
- Create and execute marketing plans targeting the assigned sector including marketing campaigns, seminars, speaking opportunities, tradeshow events, sales tools and web resources, social media and customer interactions as approved
- Work with and in support of educating Motorola Solutions Canada sales team members on how to engage assigned consultant marketplace effectively and with maximum results
- Develop and nurture close working relationships to support continuous collaboration with BD, RSD, and RSMs
- Identify and appropriately engage with trade associations, partner opportunities in support of the business plans & objectives, and seek other creative market approaches to maximize impact of BD efforts within the assigned marketplace.
- Provide timely feedback to Product Management around regulatory and/or IT requirements that impact our products ability within the assigned vertical (UL, Safety Act Certification, VMware Certification, etc.) and interface and work with 3rd party technology providers
- Schedule regular engagements with assigned and identified consultant community to maintain relationships and assigned opportunities relative to latest and greatest within Motorola Solutions Canada portfolio (Lunch and Learns, webinars, on-site meetings/demos) and attend trade shows and professionally participate in booth duty within the Motorola Solutions Canadabooth at various marketing events as determined necessary.
- Create a positive work environment and utilize team building skills with other team members.
- Work with Applications Engineering on standard proposal, compliance, engineering and qualification response for assigned sector and sub-verticals.
