Description Job Status: Regular Full-Time Reports to: Divisional Director - Business Development Schedule: 35+ hours a week Job Summary The Urban League of Rochester, NY, Inc. (ULR) seeks to build a stronger Rochester by creating resources and services that support community and economic development. The Entrepreneurship & Wealth Building Division provides technical assistance and workshops to small business owners and those seeking to start a business, helping them navigate the local entrepreneurial ecosystem. The Manager works with the Divisional Director and Business Development Specialists to ensure client engagement is positive and productive, resulting in business growth and sustainability. Job Responsibilities Oversee Entrepreneurship Assistance Center operations and programming, while developing and implementing strategies approved by the Divisional Director – Business Development, to expand services offered to businesses. Partner with the ROC Women’s Business Center when appropriate to provide workshops, business coaching, and mutually beneficial programming. Supervise and coach direct reports and program consultants. Supervise outreach and recruitment efforts, including program orientations and community presentations. Maintain appropriate internal and external communication. Positively represent the program and the agency in the community. Oversee development of trainings and resources for program participants and update materials as needed. Complete and maintain program files, records, and reports to track and assure successful program outcomes. Maintain and submit required documentation to the Divisional Director for review in a timely manner to ensure deadlines are met and to ensure effective program operation. Participate in additional training as required for effective program operation and approved by the supervisor. Provide accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting. Provide information on city, state, and federal contract projects open for bid to small businesses. Work with executive consultants to coordinate consultant activities, appointments, and submission of consultants’ billings. Attend Small Business Teaming Advisory, Federal Reserve, Small Business Administration, and Better Contractors Bureau meetings as needed. Participate in agency management meetings and contribute to the development of policies and problem-solving. Attend community and statewide meetings and maintain communication and interaction with partner organizations. Handle personnel matters such as performance evaluation/improvement, disciplinary actions, and ensure that agency policies and procedures are followed by program staff. Perform other duties as assigned by the Divisional Director – Business Development. Participate in and support all Urban League functions and fundraising events. Requirements Associates degree required, Bachelor’s preferred, with minimum of three years’ experience in communications, business administration, business development, public administration or related social science may be acceptable. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be acceptable. Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications. Emphasis on MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and MS Teams. General proficiency using computers, computer software, teleconferencing apps, and CRM management. Experience successfully managing multiple projects at a time. Knowledge of available business resources. Ability to develop new programs independently. Must be customer service oriented and promote teambuilding. Ability to relate to, communicate with, and work with a diverse population and understand the issues relating to such a population. Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication and problem-solving skills. Must be able to tolerate and handle stressful situations in a calm and professional manner.
