EXPERIENCE:

  • 7+ years in BI, data science, information architecture, business operations, or related fields.
  • 5+ years authoring in Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
  • 2+ years in enterprise Power BI deployments (shared datasets, federated authorship).

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Expertise in DAX, SQL, Excel, and cloud data platforms (AWS + Snowflake preferred).
  • Proficiency in Power BI administration (workspaces, data connections, security).
  • Strong visual data design skills – appropriate chart types, use of color and scale, data-ink ratios, etc.
  • Familiarity with data governance best practices, medallion architecture, and GDPR/CCPA.

SOFT SKILLS:

  • Passion for data democratization and mentoring others.
  • Exceptional communication and detail orientation.
  • Ability to balance independent work with teamwork.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, business administration, or related field (advanced degree preferred).

Responsibilities
  • Design and deploy scalable self-service BI solutions including interactive dashboards, data marts, and analytical models in Power BI and other platforms.
  • Administer the Power BI environment, managing workspaces, permissions, data sources, content endorsement, and performance monitoring/optimization.
  • Establish and enforce standards for endorsed content (e.g., semantic models, reports) that elevate solution quality through transparency, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Champion data governance by collaborating on policies, educating staff, and promoting effective stewardship of USGBC’s data assets.
  • Mentor and train teams through workshops and informal sessions to build Power BI authorship skills and showcase data visualization best practices.
  • Prepare and analyze data, applying statistical modeling techniques to derive predictive and prescriptive insights. Synthesize findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Manage projects by planning, resourcing, and tracking deliverables, including user testing and incident resolution.
  • Innovate strategically by identifying opportunities to leverage data for mission-aligned initiatives (e.g., research, process improvements).
