About the role

Caravan Industry Victoria is entering its next stage of evolution. With growth comes opportunity as we have grown from a small not-for-profit operating model into a more advanced industry organisation with multiple business streams, managers, events, member services, training, tourism and commercial priorities.

We are now seeking a General Manager - Business Operations & Delivery to ensure the business operates as one coordinated organisation.

About the opportunity

This is a rare opportunity to join a respected industry body that supports, promotes and represents Victoria's caravan, camping and RV sector - an industry connected to lifestyle, tourism, events, training, manufacturing, retail, service and regional visitation.

This role is for someone who enjoys building momentum, improving how teams work together and turning plans into practical delivery.

You will have influence across a diverse organisation that delivers major consumer events, industry events, member services, training and workforce development, tourism and lifestyle activity, commercial partnerships and industry programs.

The role will suit a hands-on senior leader who can bring structure without overcomplicating things, support people to do their best work, and help a growing organisation lift its performance.

What you will help lead

  • Business operations and delivery across a varied and purpose-led organisation.
  • Planning, coordination and follow-through across multiple business areas.
  • Support for managers and teams to deliver agreed priorities and outcomes.
  • Improved systems, reporting, processes and ways of working.
  • Commercial and budget discipline in a resource-conscious environment.
  • A professional, constructive and accountable team culture.

About you

  • You have experience leading teams, managers or functional leads.
  • You are practical, calm and organised, with the confidence to make decisions and follow through.
  • You understand how to balance people, budgets, priorities and service delivery.
  • You can build trust while still setting standards and expectations.
  • You communicate clearly and can bring people with you through change.
  • You are interested in industry, member value, events, training, tourism, business growth or service-based organisations.

What we're looking for

  • Minimum 7–10 years of experience in a general management, operations management or business management role, preferably within an industry body, association, not-for-profit organisation or similar membership-based entity
  • Proven track record of successfully managing operational budgets, financial performance and resource allocation in complex organisational environments
  • Strong experience in leading, managing and developing teams across multiple functional areas, with the ability to foster collaboration and high performance
  • Demonstrated experience in programme and project delivery, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with proven ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse audiences including members, Board members, government bodies and external partners
  • Strong understanding of governance, compliance and risk management frameworks, with experience reporting to Boards or senior leadership bodies
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to think strategically and act operationally
  • Experience with member or customer service delivery and a genuine commitment to understanding and meeting organisational and member needs
  • Proficiency in business management systems, financial management software and Microsoft Office applications
  • Tertiary qualification in business management, commerce, administration or a related discipline is preferred
  • Professional certifications in management, governance or a related field would be advantageous
