Responsibilities

Reporting to the General Manager Business Operations, you will lead a team of advisors (Operational Support & Ministerial) to manage the workflow across Te Poutāhū (Curriculum Centre).
This is a pivotal role to the working of the group as this role will play a key role in maintaining strategic leadership within Business Operations on business planning, decision making and maintaining operational excellence.
As the Manager Business Support, you will be instrumental in planning ahead to align the right people to support the right work programmes, to create a high performing agile culture.
Working closely with Te Poutāhū managers you will ensure they are supported to lead effectively and meet both their people management and strategic priorities.
We are looking for someone who can lift out operational capability and work collaboratively to deliver solutions that strengthen the team and ensure we are fit for the future.

This multi-faceted role involves:

  • Engaging, coaching and managing a multidisciplinary team of highly skilled advisors from diverse backgrounds.
  • Working closely with the GM Business Operations to effectively commission, scope and resource so that we can deliver on our work programme and on Ministerial priorities.
  • Actively contributing to the leadership team, and the Senior Leadership Cohort for the wider Group.
  • Confidence to mentor, coach and continually up-skill encouraging a culture of accountability, trust and self-sufficiency.
  • Ability to manage multiple work channels with ease and continually improve the quality of delivery to our stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to ensure quality and timely Ministerial’s (correspondence, Official Information Act requests, Parliamentary Questions, Privacy Act complaints).
  • Relationship management with private secretaries and other key stakeholders.
  • Bring a high degree of financial acumen to operate smartly within a tight fiscal environment.
  • Sound understanding of the machinery of government, in particular annual review and estimates.

Salary range: $142,856 - $214,284 per annum + 3% kiwi saver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.
