Career Opportunity
The Calgary TELUS Convention Centre is looking to hire a full-time Manager, Capital Maintenance and Replacements, in the Facility Management and Capital Improvements department. Reporting to the Director, Facility Management and Capital Improvements, the Manager, Capital Maintenance and Replacements, is responsible for initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and closing projects that relate to infrastructure and equipment repairs and replacements that meet CTCC capital thresholds. This position is responsible for following project management best practices, engaging meaningfully with external interested parties, working alongside external contractors as well as internal functional department management and employees to produce project deliverables as per approved project management plans, ensuring that CTCC business is not impacted, CTCC standards are maintained, and CTCC health and safety protocols are met.

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS

  • 2-3 years of capital maintenance and replacement project experience.
  • 5-10 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Multi-discipline engineering experience.
Responsibilities
  • Manage projects that are related to infrastructure and equipment repairs and replacements.
  • Provide technical expertise for Capital Improvement projects.
  • Create business cases for potential projects.
  • Create, manage, and monitor project baselines of scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Ensure change order requests, work requirements, permit applications, and other documentation for approvals are submitted.
  • Create and manage stakeholder engagement and communications strategies, monitoring throughout the project lifecycle to ensure effectiveness to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Create and manage project quality standards, monitoring throughout the project lifecycle to ensure compliance.
  • Create, manage, and monitor project risk management plans, monitor risk throughout the project lifecycle and activate planned and unplanned risk responses, ensuring proper change control process as required.
  • Create and issue documentation for tendering and RFP processes for project requirements as outline in the Centre’s policies and procedures manual.
  • Create and manage project resource requirements, working closely with functional departmental managers to ensure resources are available for both operational and project needs.
  • Approve, review, and input project invoices into Enterprise Business Management Software software.
  • Manage the tracking and reporting of projects.
  • Monitor and report on progress, threats, and opportunities associated with the execution of the CTCC’s capital plan.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends and conduct on-going environmental scans to recommend adjustments to departmental goals and objectives as required.
  • Facilitate meetings with internal and external interested parties, contractors, and resources to identify and review project requirements.
  • Ensure outside contractors comply with contract terms, applicable codes, and security procedures.
  • Work flexible and overtime hours as required by project schedules.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
