SUMMARY

The Senior Manager, Capital Planning is an Asset Management Subject Matter Expert and resource for assigned client(s), responsible for building and executing the asset management program with specialized expertise in the capital planning and implementation activities, and is also responsible for championing innovation, leading change management initiatives including implementation and deployment of process improvements and assignment to client(s) with complex needs.
The Senior Manager, Capital Planning leads a team to understand client priorities and needs and customizes BGIS’ asset management system accordingly including development of an asset management roadmap, asset data strategy, condition assessment programs, lifecycle management strategy and risk management.
Key deliverables that the Senior Manager, Capital Planning is responsible for including portfolio condition and cost performance summaries, recommended capital and asset management plans, securing stakeholder & executive input and support, preparing implementation-ready capital projects and sustainability and total cost of ownership improvement opportunities.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • University degree in relevant field such as engineering, building science, mathematics/statistics, data science or business management.
  • 6 years of capital planning work experience or related experience such as capital project delivery, operations & maintenance, statistical forecasting or infrastructure planning.
  • Thorough understanding of the principles of asset assessment and building science including fundamental knowledge of typical building systems and site components.
  • Experience presenting recommendations and securing funding approval from senior and executive management.
  • Familiarity with ISO 55001, Asset Management Standard and O.Reg 588/17, Infrastructure for Jobs and Prosperity Act.
  • Familiar with project delivery principles and statistical methods for forecasting.
  • Fundamental knowledge of national and provincial building codes and regulatory requirements.
  • Familiarity with American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Practice E2018-01 “Standard Guide for Property Condition Assessments: Baseline Property”.
  • Fundamental knowledge of general building design, construction and facility operation.
  • Familiarity with procurement strategies including private and public sector practices.
  • Experience with asset management software systems.
  • Ability to work with a team and provide direction to staff.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills along with presentation abilities.
  • Strong computer skills including the ability to learn and leverage new data analytics tools.

  • Experience implementing leading and best practices in asset management.
  • Actively participates and leads process improvement activities.
  • Demonstrated capability to determine the right advanced data analytics and visualization tools and integrate into workflows.
  • Provides mentorship to asset management staff as assigned.
  • Addresses escalations and complex client needs.
  • Mentors and provides coverage for Managers, Capital Planning.
  • Supports the development of proposals as required.
