The Manager, Care & Wellness Services is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day delivery of healthcare services, providing leadership to the nursing team, and ensuring compliance with all applicable legislation and professional standards. This role requires a leader who can balance clinical expertise with compassionate care and effective team management.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) with current registration in good standing.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • 3–5 years of leadership experience in seniors’ housing, retirement, or long-term care settings.
  • Strong knowledge of the Retirement Homes Act, resident rights, and healthcare legislation.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the needs of seniors, including dementia and complex care.
  • Proven experience in staff management, education, and performance development.
  • Experience managing budgets and departmental operations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and clinical documentation systems.
  • Clear vulnerable sector check, TB test, and proof of immunizations required.

Responsibilities
  • Assign, delegate, and evaluate the activities of the nursing team.
  • Oversee resident health and personal care services, ensuring individualized care plans are developed and followed.
  • Lead and participate in inter-professional assessments and resident care conferences.
  • Implement and monitor quality improvement initiatives.
  • Meet with residents and families to address concerns and promote resident-centered care.
  • Review medical assessments to ensure resident needs can be met safely and effectively.
  • Serve as the Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) Coordinator.
  • Recruit, schedule, supervise, and evaluate nursing staff.
  • Conduct performance appraisals and provide ongoing staff education.
  • Ensure accurate and complete resident health records are maintained.
  • Promote and uphold resident rights, dignity, and respect.
  • Support safe work practices and compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Manage department budgets and resources efficiently.
