True North Sports + Entertainment is seeking an energetic leader with a passion for hospitality and catering to join our team.
As a key member of the Hospitality team, the Manager, Catering will play a vital leadership role across both Canada Life Centre and The Burton Cummings Theatre. This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of catering operations and will be instrumental in fostering a positive team culture and delivering exceptional service. The role involves building strong relationships with corporate partners, tour productions, concert representatives, and other key stakeholders. This role will also be responsible for setting and surpassing guest experience standards while ensuring high-quality catering services for guests, players, artists, staff, and media.

What to be excited for in this role:

  • Leadership: Set the standard for catering excellence and culture, leading the event catering team.
  • Event Execution: Deliver exceptional guest experiences and financial outcomes through high-quality catering services and operations.
  • Menu Review: Review menus and other production needs to oversee and manage daily functions.
  • Systems Development: Establish and maintain systems that ensure a positive work environment dedicated to consistent quality, guest satisfaction, and efficiency. Monitors team members to ensure all systems, protocols, and quality assurance tools are utilized correctly.
  • Team Management: Recruit, mentor, and lead a diverse team, committed to integrity and excellence.
  • Operational Oversight: Manage the catering operations, including event setup and teardown, guest interactions and service and scheduling; uphold standards of cleanliness, equipment maintenance, and compliance with regulations.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with culinary teams to develop menus that meet standards set for quality and efficiency.
  • Guest Engagement: Build lasting relationships with guests to understand their needs and enhance their experience.
  • Analysis: Assess performance data to make informed decisions on operational improvements and manage the catering budget to balance profitability with exceptional service.
  • Communication: Communicate with both internal departments and external event managers, production leads and contacts in a timely manner.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:

  • Degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related field is an asset.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience in a fast-paced, high-volume hospitality environment.
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience in building high-performance teams that focus on positivity and collaboration.
  • Understanding of food safety and liquor standards, along with relevant certifications.
  • Ability to be adaptive and proactive in problem-solving.
  • Flexibility in working events, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and be adept at learning and adapting to new technologies and software as required.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Must be able to communicate effectively with dynamic personalities and stakeholders at all levels, and have a customer-focused, positive attitude.
  • Demonstrated ability managing and prioritizing multiple projects and competing deadlines; ability to take direction and is self-motivated.
  • The highest level of personal and professional integrity and ethics.
  • A natural inclination towards hospitality; an innate sense of empathy, a genuine desire to help others, and a knack for making individuals feel welcome.
  • A deep-seated passion for serving people.
  • Exceptional ability to work collaboratively, demonstrating reliability, adaptability, and a natural inclination towards positive team dynamics.
  • Valid class five driver’s license and access to vehicle (as duties may require to be conducted at other venues).
