Are you a collaborative leader with a passion for operational excellence in surgical services? UPMC St. Margaret is seeking a Manager of Central Sterile Processing to oversee sterile processing operations at our facility. This daylight role (8- or 10-hour shifts, Monday–Friday) offers the opportunity to lead a dedicated team, optimize tray management, and drive quality and efficiency in a critical support department. If you're experienced in staff management, scheduling, and surgical instrumentation logistics—and ready to make a meaningful impact—this could be the perfect next step in your career. Key Responsibilities: Lead and support a team of sterile processing professionals, including hiring, scheduling, and performance management. Collaborate with OR clinicians and leadership to manage surgical tray inventory, consignment contracts, and instrumentation needs. Maintain compliance with hospital policies and ensure staff competency and orientation. Monitor departmental performance, budgets, and supply levels; provide regular reports to the OR Unit Director. Serve as a key liaison between Sterile Processing and internal stakeholders to ensure service satisfaction. Remain accessible for 24/7 staff support (no on-call, weekends, or holidays required). Drive continuous improvement initiatives and support a culture of safety, accountability, and professional growth. Associate degree in nursing, Business, or related field. 5 years of experience in Central Sterile Processing or Surgical Technology. 3 years supervisory or team lead experience required. Ability to communicate effectively with peers, physicians, staff of other hospital departments, and outside contacts. Must have a Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution or Certified Registered Central Service Technician provisional certification and pass the certification exam prior to moving into the role. Must complete 10 hours of continuing education to remain qualified as a Central Sterile Technician on an annual basis Must be able to stand for all shift hours and be able to pick up, push, pull etc. 35 pounds.
