Description
Description This role is a key hire within the Finance and Accounting team, offering meaningful exposure across clinical finance, FP&A, and strategic decision support. The position is well-suited for a candidate eager to build deep clinical finance expertise and grow into future leadership responsibilities as the company scales toward public-company readiness. This is an individual contributor role initially, with the potential to build and lead a small FP&A sub-team as the organization expands. Key Responsibilities Clinical Trial Finance & Accruals Own the end-to-end clinical trial accrual process, including methodology design, monthly accrual calculations, true-ups, and variance analysis. Ensure accurate and timely integration of CRO, EDC, and other clinical data into financial accruals, forecasts, and management reporting. Develop and document accrual methodologies, assumptions, and controls to support audit readiness and internal control expectations. Serve as the primary finance partner to Clinical Operations and external vendors, ensuring alignment between trial progress, financial assumptions, and spend visibility. Lead the implementation, configuration, and continuous improvement of the Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS) in partnership with Clinical Operations and IT. Collaboration Agreements & Revenue Recognition Support Provide financial support for collaboration agreements, including maintaining cost-to-cost inputs and related estimates used for ASC 606 revenue recognition. Track reimbursable and shared costs, support forecast updates and assist with audit and valuation-related data requests. Partner with Accounting and Legal to ensure financial reporting aligns with contractual and compliance requirements. Financial Planning & Analysis, Budgeting, and Forecasting Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for R&D, clinical programs, and collaboration-related activities. Maintain and enhance financial models and analytical tools supporting decision-making by Finance and executive leadership. Translate complex financial and operational data into actionable insights that shape R&D investment decisions, trial pacing, and cash runway optimization. Gain increasing exposure to executive-level FP&A discussions and strategic planning as the company grows. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; advanced degree a plus. Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience in FP&A, accounting, or finance within biotech, life sciences, or a related industry. Clinical trial accounting or clinical trial finance experience required, including accruals, forecasting, and trial-level analysis. Experience supporting collaboration agreements and ASC 606 revenue recognition preferred. Experience implementing or integrating CTMS tools (e.g., Condor, Auxilius, or similar) strongly preferred. Strong analytical, modeling, and communication skills, with ability to partner cross-functionally with Clinical Operations, Legal, and R&D. CPA and/or Big 4 public accounting experience a plus. Business partnership mindset with proven ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Comfort with scaling processes and driving toward pre-IPO operational rigor. This is an opportunity to build foundational clinical finance and FP&A capabilities within a growing biotech, contributing directly to operational excellence, capital efficiency, and future public-company success.
