Responsibilities
  • Serving as a specialized resource to our team and people on all matters pertaining to the firm’s national People & Culture policies and programs, including complex/exceptional issues, with regard to Firm policies.
  • Providing advice and counsel to people managers and colleagues on complex workplace situations, providing a fair and transparent employee experience while managing risk to the firm, in consideration of Firm policies. Providing counsel to the Consultant, Colleague Relations on escalated matters.
  • Advising on terminations, drafting applicable termination documents, and liaising with senior leadership as applicable. Providing guidance to Consultant, Colleague Relations on complex terminations.
  • Negotiating termination/exit packages and liaising with senior leadership as applicable on such settlements. Escalating complex negotiations to the Senior Manager, Colleague Relations.
  • Supporting awareness, understanding and compliance with policy and business ethics practices applicable federal and provincial employment and human rights legislation.
  • Identifying potential issues regarding medical leaves of absence to the Benefits Team and providing recommendations regarding same.
  • Reviewing and approving requests for non-medical leaves of absence.
  • Supporting the People & Culture team and colleagues by appropriately documenting and managing any circumstance wherein an individual’s terms of employment require non-standard adjustments.
  • Leading internal workplace investigations, and as necessary, escalating to the Senior Manager, Colleague Relations.
  • Analyzing trends and common themes as it relates to involuntary turnover and other colleague relations matters, and presenting findings to leadership and relevant members of the P&C team.
  • Preparing and presenting training sessions on various topics including performance management (the appropriate steps to progressive discipline), human rights/duty to accommodate, introduction to HR (P&C) Risk Management, etc.
  • Monitoring and promoting flexibility within the region in the context of the firm’s Hybrid Work policy.
  • Reviewing and approving requests for hybrid policy exceptions.
  • Supporting the firm’s wellbeing efforts (Vital@DoaneGT).
  • Leading special projects as required
