SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree (EQF 6) with 12–15 years of relevant experience or a master’s degree (EQF 7) with 10–12 years in a technical field.
  • Proven leadership in engineering, manufacturing and integration of complex (preferably maritime, electrical or mechanical) systems.
  • Solid understanding of engineering concepts, financial and contract management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build effective coalitions.
  • Fluent in Dutch and English, both written and spoken.Willingness to travel between our Dutch sites, or internationally for project purpose.

Responsibilities

THE ROLE

As Manager Combat, you are responsible for leading the Combat Systems subdepartment (~20 FTE) within the Combat, Electrical & Automation (CE&A) Engineering department. You manage the people, capacity, processes and tools needed to deliver high-quality engineering services. You ensure the right people are assigned to the right projects and actively contribute to achieving business objectives through effective leadership and continuous improvement. Besides the line management activities, you will also be partly involved in or contribute to engineering or proposal projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide overall leadership for the Combat Systems subdepartment
  • Manage and allocate resources within the Combat Systems subdepartment to ensure project teams are equipped with the right capabilities.
  • Improve operational plans, policies, and procedures in line with the strategic direction of the department.
  • Safeguard the execution of line management activities in terms of resource planning and development quality control and cost monitoring.
  • Contribute to engineering or proposal projects within your field of (technical) expertise.
  • Build strong partnerships internally and externally to align with long-term strategic goals.
  • Monitor and improve team performance, fostering a productive and cohesive work environment.
  • Provide structured support in proposal reviews and technical design discussions.
  • Drive knowledge sharing, innovation, and continuous process improvements across the department.
  • Ensure adherence to all HSSEQ and Engineering policies and procedures.
  • Define and implement configuration management plans (CMPs) for our naval projects.Set up and maintain project product structures, master document lists, and data environments.
