We are looking for an experienced Communications leader to join our dynamic Corporate Communications and Engagement Department. The successful candidate will be a key member of our dedicated and passionate team of professionals, partnering with us to transform Niagara Health.
Reporting to the Director of Communications and Engagement, the ideal candidate will be a creative and strategic thinker, and have significant experience in corporate communications, marketing, design and crisis management. This position will work closely with the Manager, Public Affairs, the Manager, Community Relations and the Manager, Translation Network.
To be successful in this role, the preferred candidate will be comfortable overseeing a high volume of work in a fast-paced and demanding environment. In leading part of the Communications team, the Manager will collaborate, inspire, engage and empower personal and professional growth for all members of the team. The individual must have experience advising senior leaders and managers on communications matters and managing complex communications issues. This position will have responsibility primarily for marketing, brand, design and digital communications, and support issues management. The incumbent will be driven by analytics and the ability to measure the effectiveness of the Department’s work on an ongoing basis. This position will require regular emergency on-call communications leadership and support. This position will also be required to support the provision of French Language Services across Niagara Health and therefore a high proficiency in both official languages (English and French) will be considered a great asset.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field. Master’s degree and/or professional accreditation is preferred (APR or ABC)
o Certificate in Public Participation (IAP2) considered an asset
o Minimum five years of progressive communications leadership experience in a large healthcare, public sector or unionized environment
o Commitment to ongoing professional development of yourself and of your team
o Commitment to our organizational values and progress of Niagara Health’s Strategic Plan
o At least five years of experience developing and implementing measurable and engaging communications strategies for internal and external interested and affected parties, including strategies that support change processes
o Demonstrated experience advising senior leaders and managers on communications matters
o Demonstrated experience managing complex communications issues, leading projects and planning special events
o Advanced writing and editing skills and a natural talent for translating complex information into clear and compelling communication materials
o Advanced experience in managing design and production projects with experience in the Adobe Design Suite
o Highly detail-oriented
o Solid interpersonal and relationship building skills, including the ability to communicate with professionalism and contribute to a respectful, cooperative team environment
o Effective time management, organization skills; service focused, with the ability to multi-task and meet tight timelines
o Proficiency in both official languages (English and French) will be considered a great asset
