The Royal Canadian Mint is hiring a Manager, Complex Accounting who can thrive in a dynamic and inclusive environment.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Complex Accounting, the Manager, Complex Accounting is responsible for leading the accounts receivable function, and is responsible for revenue accounting, and related reports and reconciliations, as well as overseeing the accounting for inventory and related costs associated with the Winnipeg and Ottawa Plant Operations and Ottawa Refinery Operations, including the maintenance and accurate reporting in the financial control system. The incumbent is responsible for leading a team of approximately 2-3 people.

LANGUAGES REQUIREMENTS:

• An advanced level of bilingual proficiency in both official languages (English / French) is required at the time of hire. If a bilingual candidate is not identified, other candidate language profiles may be considered in accordance with the Mint’s Staffing Policy

EDUCATION & DESIGNATION:

• Undergraduate degree in accounting or related areas
• Professional accounting designation (CPA)

EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive management experience
• Experience managing the accounts’ receivable function, including invoicing, collections, and month-end reconciliations
• Technical accounting and reporting background in IFRS with a working knowledge of IAS 2 – Inventory, IFRS 15 – Revenue from Contracts with Customers and IFRS 9 – Financial Instrument pronouncements, etc.

• Strong in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and working knowledge of accounting and reporting systems

• Responsible for monthly and quarterly accounts receivable, revenue accounting, property plant and equipment, and inventory accounting close activities, including the timely and accurate analysis, review and posting of manual journal entries, the completion of balance sheet reconciliations and ad hoc analysis as it relates to accounts receivable and revenue accounting.
• Provide direction, ongoing oversight and leadership to a small team responsible for the processing of accounts receivable, property plant and equipment and inventory accounting.
• Assist with the review of customer contract summaries to ensure correct accounting treatment under IFRS.
• Assist with all facets of the business in developing business practices and inventory, capital asset, accounts receivable and revenue accounting policies and procedures that will meet the desired operational and compliance outcomes in accordance with IFRS.
• Liaise with Operating plants and Refinery to improve operations and development of efficiencies from a system and process standpoint while ensuring internal controls are in place and evaluating risks and impacts.
• Manage the precious metal accounting policy and reconciliation process.
• Manage the customer invoicing and credit limit set up in the accounting system, and work closely with Treasury and Sales to support an effective and efficient credit risk assessment and accurate and complete invoicing process.
• Direct engagement with internal and external auditors on revenue, accounts receivable, inventory and property plant and equipment transactions.
• Develop and maintain proper internal controls with respect to revenue, accounts receivable, inventory and property plant and equipment transactions.
  This opening is to be filled on a hybrid working arrangement, and the incumbent will be required to work from the Ottawa location generally on an average of 3 days a week which could change based on operational requirements.
