This position will play a critical role within the Second Line of Defense Compliance team supporting the U.S. Consumer Cards, with a high focus on Co-Brand card portfolios and will be responsible for providing advisory and compliance oversight for this area. The position will provide strategic support to drive innovation for the business while building an effective framework for compliance with applicable laws and regulations for U.S. Consumer Co Brand products, features, and processes. Focus will be dedicated to Co Brand product development, review of marketing strategies and materials, testing strategies, risk management initiatives including issue management, process controls, customer facing journeys and communications, complaints and third-party mystery shopping. Responsibilities: Provide Compliance Oversight to USCS Card business stakeholders on regulatory requirements applicable to projects including new product launches. This includes providing effective challenges to business stakeholders while also interacting effectively with them and other support units to ensure proper communication across organizational lines. Review and effectively challenge marketing campaign strategies and advertising (audio/visual) materials and serve as Compliance subject matter expert on applicability of consumer protection laws including but not limited to Truth in Lending, UDAAP and Fair Lending. Research laws, regulations, American Express National Bank and Enterprise level policies and procedures to provide guidance to business partners regarding regulatory requirements. Support new initiatives through the New Product Approval (NPA) process and integration of effective controls, testing & ongoing monitoring into new and existing processes. Effectively support the Bank’s Issue Management framework processes and policies to ensure timely closure of gaps, customer remediation and other milestones, where required. Support our business stakeholders by providing effective challenge when required, helping them reach their goals while meeting their regulatory obligations. Serve as a backup for fellow Compliance Managers within the team during leaves and special assignments. Keep abreast of U.S. consumer regulations and trends for potential impact to Compliance risk assessments. Minimum Qualifications: Must possess a proficient knowledge of U.S Consumer open-end credit laws and regulations and banking regulations governing credit card activities and their impact on Bank’s products, operations, and services. Ability to research, assess and determine regulatory impact to business initiatives and influence decisions accordingly. Strong leadership skills and proven ability to communicate and collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization, including the ability to influence others to achieve desired results. Strong interpersonal skills to support business stakeholders and proven ability to develop and grow relationships. Ability to identify and effectively communicate compliance risks and requirements to all levels of staff and management and assess the efficacy of business proposed mitigants. Demonstrated ability to make decisions independently, work well under pressure, meeting deadlines and handle multiple tasks while prioritizing work in a highly deadline-intensive environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Prior credit card industry, compliance, legal or risk experience, strongly preferred. Minimum Academic Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred.
