Description

We are seeking an experienced Manager, Construction to oversee and coordinate all on-site activities of Shake Shack construction projects, ensuring safe, timely, and on-budget project completion. The ideal candidate will have an expert knowledge of the construction and renovation processes and experience managing restaurant construction projects as a site supervisor. A technical trade or engineering background is preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 4 years of experience in Commercial Construction Project Management
  • At least 2 years of experience as a Site Supervisor or Site Coordinator, demonstrated hands-on experience with managing trades, tenants and internal team members
  • Experience in QSR or F&B Construction is required
  • Demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit with a drive to succeed and strong ability to self- motivate
  • In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, materials, and project management principles.
  • Proficient in MS Project, AutoCAD, Bluebeam and MS office suite
  • PMP Certification is an asset

Responsibilities
  • Developing and maintain project schedules, ensuring timely progress and completion
  • Supervise and manage construction activities, including:
  • Manage communications with different stakeholders such as General Contractors, landlords, and owner-supplied equipment vendors
  • Monitor project progress and work with GC to drive adherence to schedule and budget, ensuring contract documents are being followed during construction
  • Proactively identify, communicate and resolve potential project timeline and budget challenges (e.g., ensuring high-quality workmanship of the GCs)
  • Provide onsite direction to GC to resolve site conditions and scope gaps
  • Attend weekly site meetings with stakeholders in various sites throughout the GTA to ensure progress, quality and accuracy
  • Identify and quantify challenges onsite and provide recommendations, lessons learned, and retrospective summaries to prioritize continuous improvement in process and communications
  • Coordinate facility management training with GC and restaurant operations team, create documents identifying restaurant-specific utility locations such as shutoff valves, meters, suppression system, FCUs, etc.
  • Manage project documentation including RFIs, Submittals and change management processes with GC and Senior Manager
  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify and resolve potential issues
