Wealth and Personal Banking (WPB) serves more than 50 million customers worldwide with a complete range of banking and wealth management services to enable them to manage their finances and protect and build their financial futures. The Controls Assurance Manager will report directly into the Senior Manager, Controls Assurance and will be supporting the Chief Controls Office in ensuring controls are working effectively across the WPB business. You will be responsible for monitoring WPB’s controls assurance framework, and requires high attention to detail, as well as strong written and verbal communication.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Support the business by conducting reviews, monitoring the controls assurance program, and testing the effectiveness of the control environment across WPB.
  • Conducting controls assurance activities across WPB, including thematic reviews, and ensuring the implementation of controls across the business.
  • Identify and raise awareness for any gaps in controls to line manager and senior management.
  • Conduct remediation activities relating to control weaknesses across WPB.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, which will require you to engage with all lines of defence, including internal and external audit.
  • Uphold HSBC’s values and behaviours on a daily basis.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Degree qualified in relevant discipline with relevant experience in business controls, audit (internal or external), or controls advisory
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail when working with competing and conflicting priorities
  • Proven problem-solving skills with ability to consider alternative and lateral solutions;
  • Strong communication, presentation and influencing skills;
  • Ability to work independently and cope with pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Ability to understand complex concepts.
  • Demonstrated experience in Non-Financial Risk / Operational Risk Management and Compliance

Preference will be given to candidates who hold Australian PR/Citizenship or New Zealand Citizenship, or who can demonstrate current unrestricted work rights in Australia without limitations.
