Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company (’Versant’) comprised of most of NBCUniversal’s cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.
Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation, review, and posting of core corporate accounting journal entries (e.g., investments, allocations of corporate-wide expenses, depreciation & amortization, etc.)
  • Review and approve BPO-prepared journal entries and reconciliations; ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper documentation
  • Prepare complex or judgmental journal entries for assigned corporate areas
  • Manage balance sheet account reconciliations using Blackline, ensuring timely certification, proper supporting documentation, and resolution of aged reconciling items
  • Review monthly fluctuation analysis on key accounts and explain significant variances to leadership
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, company accounting policies, and internal controls
  • Assist with internal and external audit support, including Blackline reconciliation extracts, backup, and walkthroughs
  • Collaborate with teams such as FP&A, Treasury, and Tax to align on accounting treatment for specific transactions
  • Own process documentation and lead enhancements to recurring accounting workflows and reconciliation standards
  • Contribute to close calendar tracking, status updates, and recurring reporting packages
  • Manage and develop one Senior Analyst, providing regular feedback, review of deliverables, and mentorship

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience in financial reporting, accounting, or audit, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working in a publicly traded company or a Big 4 accounting firm is preferred.
  • Understanding of SEC reporting, U.S. GAAP, and SOX compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems is preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and transparency.
