We are seeking a Manager, Course Development to lead a team in building world-class eLearning courses for food and workplace safety. This is a hands-on leadership role. You will own the end-to-end course development process including: course objectives, SME collaboration, instructional design, voiceover, video/graphics development, assets assembly, testing, and LMS deployment. Role Responsibilities: Team Leadership & People Development Lead, mentor, and manage a team fostering a collaborative, high-accountability environment focused on craft and continuous improvement. Set clear performance expectations, conduct regular 1:1s, and provide ongoing coaching and feedback to help each team member grow. Identify skills gaps across the team and develop training, templates, and processes to close them. Build a positive team culture that balances creative excellence with disciplined on-time delivery. Course Quality & Instructional Standards Establish and enforce instructional design standards, style guides, and QA processes across all courses and learning formats. Conduct structured reviews of storyboards, scripts, and final course builds providing specific, actionable feedback. Personally design and develop courses when needed, modeling best-in-class use of adult learning frameworks (ADDIE, Kirkpatrick) and scenario-based design. Ensure all courses meet SCORM compliance and regulatory accuracy requirements. Champion usability testing and learner feedback loops; translate data into concrete improvements to course design and assessment quality. Guide the instructional design team in evaluating and leveraging AI-enabled authoring and content generation tools to enhance efficiency and learning impact. Project & Pipeline Management Own the team's content development pipeline: intake, scoping, scheduling, milestone tracking, and on-time delivery across all active projects. Build and maintain project plans with realistic timelines that account for SME availability, review cycles, and revision rounds. Proactively identify and resolve blockers — whether resource constraints, SME delays, or scope creep — before they impact delivery. Report pipeline status, risks, and capacity with transparency and appropriate cadence. Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to extract, structure, and translate complex regulatory content into practical, engaging training for frontline workers and industry professionals. Work with third-party content development and LMS vendors to ensure courseware quality and a seamless learner experience. Collaborate with Sales team to align the development calendar. Partner with support team to troubleshoot and resolve customer-reported issues related to eLearning course functionality and design. Provide input on tooling decisions — authoring tools, LMS configuration, multimedia production — to optimize team efficiency and output quality. Required Skillset and Experience: 10+ years in instructional design or eLearning development, with at least 2 years managing or leading a team of instructional designers or learning professionals. Demonstrated player-coach ability: you can give detailed, credible feedback on course design and also produce polished work yourself when the team needs it. Solid understanding of SCORM packaging, LMS deployment, and accessibility standards Familiarity with Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, and multimedia tools (Audacity, Adobe Premiere or equivalent).Experience designing courses for regulated industries with a strong grasp of how to make compliance content genuinely engaging. Experience with food safety, workplace safety training a plus. Strong project management skills: you can run multiple concurrent development tracks, track milestones, manage revision rounds, and hit deadlines reliably. Excellent communication skills: clear in writing, constructive in feedback, and confident in cross-functional conversations with SMEs and leadership. Highly organized and self-directed; comfortable working fully remote and managing a distributed team. High proficiency in Articulate (Lectora a plus). Preferred Qualifications: Experience at a B2B eLearning company, preferably in compliance or safety training. Certifications such as CPLP or ATD Instructional Design Certificate. Experience with learning analytics tools and using learner performance data to drive course improvements.
