Description
General Purpose: The Manager, CPE Engineering is responsible for the population of Customer Premise Equipment in the TPx Network.  The manager must have the vision to devise and deploy methods and tools to ensure all devices are known, controlled, configured and secured.  The CPE Engineering group is responsible for all new and regression testing of CPE hardware and software.  The role works closely with the Advanced-VoIP, MSx, and Packet Engineering teams for design and optimization of deployed voice and data endpoints.  Additionally, the Manager, CPE Engineering actively works with other TPx organizations in prioritizing, scheduling and providing timely updates of requested lab projects.  Manager must be aware and understand company goals and lead this team to achieve those goals.   Direct Reports: No   Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Ensures all CPE meet current security requirements and all CVE are addressed. * Drive automation and other methods to compress testing timelines for all CPE * Establishes and maintains professional business relationships with all equipment and application vendors that CPE Engineering engages with. * Manages the lab resources to test/certify new hardware and software for customer deployment and also perform regression testing of new firmware against existing products to ensure product stability. * Manages the project priorities based on business need and test-cycle durations. * Works with other Engineering, Product Management, Project Management, Provisioning and Support organizations to identify hardware, firmware or software certification through lab testing. * Is actively engaged with and provide timely updates to these same organizations via email, regular or ad-hoc in-person meetings, conference calls, or one-on-one discussions regarding all current and upcoming lab projects * Uses network monitoring tools, check existing production deployments for configuration compliance to determine if a fix action is required and coordinate resolution. * Provides clear direction to each team member regarding the requirements, expectations, milestones, deliverables and end-goal of their assigned projects. * Provides regular feedback to each Engineer regarding their individual progress on projects and career-oriented goals that are documented into their annual review.   Other Responsibilities: * Other relevant tasks as directed by department leadership. * This individual must have a team orientation and be able to professionally interact with executives, managers and subject matter experts, as well as be the liaison between business units, technology, and support teams. * This person will need to have strong analytical and product management skills to interpret business needs and translate the needs into application and operational requirements.
