Description

Position Overview:
Reporting to the Patient Care Director, you will be responsible for effectively managing the unit’s financial and human resources, overseeing clinical operations, promoting excellence in patient care and advancing team effectiveness in a multidisciplinary team in a Professional Practice Model. The Patient Care Manager designs, oversees, and manages all activities for the Critical Care nursing units at the General Site at Scarborough Health Network (SHN) in collaboration with the Critical Care leadership team. You will use your clinical practice knowledge, experience, and leadership skills to promote and maintain the delivery of quality nursing in the program in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario and the Nursing Practice, Critical Care Services Ontario Professional Standards and Patient Care Standards of SHN.

Requirements:

  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing from a recognized institution
  • Master′s degree required from a recognized institution
  • Current registration and member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
  • Minimum 5 years clinical experience with demonstrable clinical and leadership skills
  • Experience in a unionized multi-site setting and a strong knowledge of the external economic environment required
  • Demonstrated commitment to participatory management research based practice and patient/family collaborative education programs
  • Proven comprehensive knowledge and demonstrated clinical excellence in Nursing or other health care profession and a commitment to staff development
  • Demonstrated experience in leading change initiatives and managing projects with interdisciplinary teams
  • Demonstrated strategic leadership, team building and conflict resolution skills with proven effective mentoring and coaching skills
  • Proven solid planning, organizational, analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Proven capability of working effectively as a member of the interdisciplinary team collaboratively, independently, and with patients/clients and the community
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication and documentation skills
  • Demonstrated skills in change management, project management and human resources management within interdisciplinary teams
  • Demonstrated focus on internal/external customer service and partnerships
  • Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues and volunteers and other members of the community and public
  • Demonstrates values consistent with SHN’s Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation
  • Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to SHN’s comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, and environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area
  • Demonstrates excellent work performance and attendance record
  • Utilize protective equipment provided and identify and reports hazards
  • Engages in ethical conduct and strives to understand and appreciate the diversity of our patient/staff population and community
  • Ability to travel cross-site as needed

Asset:

  • Critical Care Certificate
  • Canadian Nursing Association - Certified Nurse in Critical Care - Canada (CNCC-C)
  • Intensive Care and/or Critical Care experience
  • Current membership with the Registered Nursing Association of Ontario (RNAO)
  • Knowledge of quality improvement methodology (LEAN)
  • Ability to speak another language

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $130,000.00-$160,000.00 per year
