OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a hands-on Data Engineering Manager to lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable data solutions in a complex healthcare data environment. This role blends technical leadership, architectural expertise, people management, and strategic planning to drive enterprise-wide data initiatives leveraging modern cloud technologies. Knowledge of healthcare data standards, including the National Library of Medicine (NLM), is highly valued to ensure data quality, compliance, and interoperability.
The Data Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading a team of skilled data engineers in building robust data pipelines, optimizing Snowflake environments, and supporting analytics and application teams with clean, reliable data products.

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in data engineering, with 2+ years in a technical leadership or manager role
  • Deep hands-on experience in:
  • Snowflake architecture and performance tuning
  • Python-based ETL frameworks
  • SQL development and optimization
  • Apache Airflow or similar orchestration tools
  • Experience with Git-based version control, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code
  • Proven experience building and supporting production-grade, scalable, and secure data pipelines

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

  • Experience working with healthcare datasets (claims, scheduling, EMR, provider data, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Power BI, dbt, or other data transformation tools
  • Strong understanding of data privacy, encryption, masking, and secure access patterns
  • Agile/Scrum experience, including backlog grooming and delivery tracking

Team & Operations Leadership

  • Architect and oversee the implementation of cloud-native data pipelines and services using Snowflake, Airflow, Python, and SQL
  • Drive data modeling strategies that support analytics, machine learning, and operational use cases
  • Own the design and performance optimization of Snowflake objects: warehouses, stages, file formats, streams, tasks, and materialized views
  • Collaborate with Data Architects to implement data platform standards, naming conventions, and security models
  • Implement robust data quality, monitoring, and CI/CD practices
  • Experience in leading onshore and offshore teams
  • Drive sprint planning, resource allocation, and project tracking to ensure timely delivery of deliverables
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous learning within the team
