The primary goal of the Centre of Excellence for Trauma and Emergencies (CETE) is to improve health outcomes of individuals and populations affected by trauma and emergencies including motor vehicle crashes, complex humanitarian crises, disasters due to climate change and large-scale epidemics. The CETE collaborates with AKDN partners, global academic and response institutions, governments, private sector and funding agencies to strengthen trauma and emergency systems as well as disaster preparedness and response in low and lower middle-income countries. CETE invites applications for the position of Manager – Data Management Unit (DMU). This is a critical leadership role responsible for managing all data-related functions, systems, and analytics across CETE to support research, operational excellence, and stakeholder reporting. This is a grant-funded contractual position. Responsibilities: You will be responsible to: lead and manage the Data Management Unit and oversee all data-related functions across CETE develop and implement data strategies, annual workplans, and performance standards aligned with research priorities supervise and provide technical oversight to the data team, including analysts, coordinators, developers, and field staff design, implement, and manage relational databases, data warehouses, and data infrastructure (SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL or equivalent) manage data platforms such as REDCap, KoboToolbox, ODK, dashboarding tools, and cloud/on-premise systems in coordination with IT oversee end-to-end data operations including data collection, ingestion, cleaning, harmonisation, integration, and storage ensure data quality through validation protocols, audits, and SOP implementation lead statistical analysis and generate reports to support research, donor reporting, and decision-making design and maintain dashboards and visualization systems using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or R Shiny ensure compliance with data governance, ethics, and regulatory requirements (AKU ERC, IRBs, donor requirements) coordinate with internal teams and external partners for data sharing and integration prepare and present data reports, summaries, and analytical outputs for stakeholders promote a culture of documentation, transparency, data integrity, and continuous improvement. Requirements: You should have: a Master’s degree in Statistics, Computer Science, MIS, or a related field; at least ten years of relevant experience in a research-based data management environment demonstrated experience managing data systems, infrastructure, and teams in a research or healthcare setting strong expertise in relational databases (SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL or equivalent) experience working with data collection platforms such as REDCap, KoboToolbox, ODK proficiency in data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or R Shiny experience in data architecture, data pipelines, and large-scale data operations working knowledge of statistical analysis and reporting familiarity with programming or scripting languages such as Python, R, or STATA will be an advantage understanding of data governance, privacy, and compliance standards in research strong leadership, team management, and stakeholder coordination skills excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities strong interpersonal and communication skills ability to manage multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
