Job Description Job Purpose The New York Stock Exchange, part of Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), is seeking a Manager, Full Stack Engineering who combines strong technical depth with proven engineering leadership. In this role, you will drive architecture, design, and development across modern front-end, back-end, and cloud-native platforms while managing, mentoring, and scaling a high-performing engineering team. Ideal candidates are experienced technical managers who enjoy rolling up their sleeves, solving complex engineering challenges, and shaping the culture, processes, and technology standards of the team. As a hands-on manager, you will spend time both: Leading and growing an engineering team, and Contributing directly to full‑stack development, architectural decisions, and technical strategy. You will guide the team through planning, delivery, code reviews, and best practices, while ensuring that the engineering solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with business needs. Responsibilities Technical Leadership & Architecture Lead end‑to‑end architecture and development of full‑stack applications, including UI, API services, backend logic, databases, and cloud infrastructure. Remain hands‑on by contributing to design reviews, coding complex modules, troubleshooting production issues, and optimizing system performance. Define and enforce engineering best practices in code quality, testing, CI/CD, observability, and secure development. Drive modernization initiatives such as microservices, cloud adoption, event-driven patterns, and reusable component libraries. Full Stack Development Architect and build scalable, maintainable systems across the stack using: Frontend: React, Angular, or similar frameworks Backend: Python, Java, or Node.js services APIs: REST, GraphQL Databases: relational and NoSQL Cloud: AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, IAM, etc.) Collaborate with UX, product, QA, and cloud teams to ensure seamless integration and high-quality delivery. Ensure applications meet enterprise standards for availability, resiliency, performance, and security. People Leadership & Team Management Manage a team of full-stack engineers, fostering a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement. Provide coaching, technical mentorship, and career development for team members. Conduct performance reviews, define role expectations, and support talent acquisition. Allocate resources, plan sprints, and ensure smooth execution across multiple projects. Create strong engineering processes around estimation, planning, code review, testing, and deployments Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with product managers, business stakeholders, operations, and security teams to translate requirements into technical solutions. Ensure delivery of high‑impact features with predictable timelines and measurable business value. Communicate technical tradeoffs and architectural decisions to both technical and non‑technical audiences. Knowledge and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. 8+ years of full-stack engineering experience, including significant hands‑on coding. 2–4 years of engineering management or technical leadership experience. Strong expertise in building production‑grade front-end and back-end applications. Proficiency with cloud technologies (AWS preferred). Solid understanding of DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, automation, and infrastructure basics. Excellent communication, team-building, and stakeholder management skills. Preferred Knowledge and Experience Experience with microservices, distributed systems, and high-performance architectures. Familiarity with Airflow, container orchestration (ECS/EKS), or serverless frameworks. Experience working in regulated or mission‑critical environments. Background leading globally distributed engineering teams.
