Job Summary:
The Manager, EHS Systems develops, implements and manages EHS systems to support Reliance Group Leadership and Corporate EHS with incident/event reporting, investigation and causation analysis, data trending, and corporate reporting – all to support Reliance’s goal of eliminating injuries and EHS events in the workplace.

  • Design/develop, implement and sustain EHS information management systems, applications and data, including but not limited to Safety Culture, Service Now, KPA, SharePoint, etc.
  • Manage and seek opportunities to continually improve methods for managing EHS systems, both at corporate and within Group operations.
  • Seek and implement opportunities to standardize efficient methods for EHS information delivery, while pursuing improved utilization, adoption and retention of systems and tools.
  • Perform regular datamining in the EHS system tools to prepare monthly global and executive reports and summaries, to include graphs, tables, and trending data.
  • Support PowerBI and environmental sustainability reporting and corporate website communications.
  • Maintain corporate EHS information and reporting on the Reliance Inc. intranet site, as applicable.
  • Provide strategic leadership on the design, development, and implementation of the enterprise-wide Reliance EHS information management system. This includes periodic needs assessments, and leadership in assessing and implementing new systems, as needed, in conjunction with feedback from Corporate and Group leadership.
  • Provide necessary training on corporate EHS systems and information management tools to ensure clear understanding and execution at Group and site levels.
  • Ensure corporate dashboards are maintained for reporting, in conjunction with the Corporate EHS strategy and continuous improvement efforts. Support the analysis of trends and interface with EHS and operational leaders on data-driven improvement opportunities.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Relevant safety/EHS-related technical degree (i.e., chemical, industrial, or mechanical engineering, or environmental science/safety), analytical degree or IT-related degree preferred, or equivalent experience as an EHS systems leader.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing operations, safety cultures and systems, data analysis and risk mitigation techniques.
  • Understanding of the various EHS data management tools in use at Reliance, and those available in the market that have the ability to support Reliance’s growth and improvement in the EHS space.
  • Strong communication, organization, and team/collaboration skills.
  • Familiar with corporate EHS data and metrics, and the ability to review data and extract key trends, priorities, etc., through data analysis.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, while meeting project commitments.
  • Self-motivated and able to function independently; work with minimum guidance and direction to accomplish overall company EHS goals.
  • Proven ability to develop strong working relationships with Reliance leaders and regulatory authorities, as appropriate.
  • Conduct work with the highest level of ethical standards in adherence to Reliance values.
Responsibilities
  • Identify holistic Reliance Inc. and Group level EHS trends, and work with appropriate leaders to support continuous improvement priorities and projects.
  • Support Groups and facilities during safety incident investigations, root cause analysis, and the determination of applicable shared learnings so corrective actions systematically prevent repeat events.
  • Support monthly EHS reporting, global and regional calls, and compliance reviews, etc., as necessary, and develop training materials and processes in support of global safety initiatives and actions.
  • Through interaction, assess the proficiency of facility safety professionals and provide development needs to Corporate and Group leadership, as appropriate.
    Required Skills:

The successful candidate must:

  • Be able to travel from 20-40%, with no travel limitations to any Reliance Inc. operating locations.
  • Be able to work independently and understand Reliance philosophies and expectations on EHS compliance, reporting, needs and drivers to improve global performance.
  • Be an effective communicator and trainer, with a general understanding of other EHS matters such as safety management, environmental, and industrial hygiene risks.
  • Be highly collaborative and influential within a highly matrixed organization.
  • Drive consistency in Reliance’s global systems through Reliance’s network of site safety/EHS professionals, Group and Company leaders.
  • Think strategically, but provide hands-on technical support, as needed, for all Reliance Groups and site operations.
