Description
Vacancy Advertisement - Engineering Manager Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit a highly motivated and committed employee for the position of Engineering Manager to lead this journey, taking LMC's engineering and maintenance function from where it is today to the world class asset it will become. This is a transformational leadership role, not a steady state one.  The successful candidate will hold single accountability for the engineering and maintenance of both the fixed plant (copper process plant) and the full Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME) and Light Mobile Equipment (LME) fleets, and will build the organisation, systems, and reliability culture needed to sustain a near doubling of the operation. We are in search of individuals who can champion Barrick's DNA by: * Communicating Honestly, Transparently, and Acting with Integrity * Exhibiting a Results-Driven approach * Delivering solutions that are Fit for Purpose * Dedicating themselves to Building a Sustainable Legacy * Taking Responsibility and being Accountable * Committing to Zero Harm * Cultivating strong and meaningful Partnerships   Reporting to the General Manager and forming part of the site leadership team, you will lead and manage all engineering and maintenance activities across fixed plant and mobile fleet to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation of equipment and infrastructure through a period of significant growth. You will develop and implement the engineering strategy, maintenance programmes, and capital projects that maximise asset performance, minimise downtime and support production targets. In doing so you will drive a step change in maintenance and asset management maturity, ensure the engineering readiness and integration of newly commissioned expansion assets, and build a substantially larger and more capable local engineering organisation. This role ensures compliance with mining legislation and engineering standards while driving continuous improvement, cost optimisation and the development of engineering teams to achieve the company's operational and strategic objectives.   Duties & Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:    Safety, Health & Environment * Promote and enforce compliance with safety, health and environmental policies, standards, procedures and regulations, and live and instil our DNA at all levels of the organisation including our contractors. * Develop emission reduction initiatives for different areas of the mine including process plant, HME and LME.   Asset Management & Reliability * Prepare and deliver best in class engineering and maintenance within the annual maintenance budget across fixed plant and mobile fleet. Improve the reliability of critical equipment to ensure that major production stoppages are prevented, and budgeted availabilities and throughput are achieved. * Drive a step change in equipment lifecycle management maturity, accelerating the shift from a reactive toward a proactive and predictive maintenance model through training, work management measures, defect elimination, asset tactics development and expanded use of condition monitoring. * Maintain the company's assets in a responsible manner through disciplined allocation of maintenance resources and critical spares, and demanding high quality of workmanship. * Conduct life cycle costing analysis of major equipment to inform decisions on replacement, refurbishment and component change out. * Improve planning and scheduling for both routine and outage or shutdown works to optimise timelines and resource requirements, minimising business impact and cost. * Embed a disciplined, SAP driven planning and reliability cadence aligned with the AME regional maintenance and systems standards.   Capital, Projects & Expansion * Plan and deliver a capital expenditure programme that supports the Life of Mine (LOM) plan and the Super Pit Expansion. * Lead engineering readiness and the safe handover of newly constructed and commissioned plant and fleet from projects into stable, sustainable operations. * Integrate demand planning with Supply Chain to optimise stock levels, and effectively manage and monitor Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and contractors to ensure high quality service delivery while pursuing a programme of cost rationalisation and quality improvement.   People & Capability * Build a resilient engineering and maintenance organisation, scaling the team to support the expansion and developing a capacity pool of capable local individuals. * Attract, retain and develop an effective, diverse local workforce that is agile, integrated and able to deliver safely on our plans, increasing site gender diversity where possible and ensuring timely recruitment of open vacancies and additional personnel. * Prioritise the development of local Zambian personnel, building the technical and leadership capability of national employees through structured on the job training, skills transfer, mentoring, apprenticeship and graduate pathways, and succession planning that progresses Zambian talent into senior engineering, technical and supervisory roles over the next three to five years.   Technology & Continuous Improvement * Embrace and drive technological innovation, data analytics, visualisation of data and automation, implementing a technology framework to align with the AME standard. * Review long term business challenges that can be addressed with technology, review the needs of each department, and set out a roadmap for technological innovation. * Create operational flexibility within our business plan and pursue continuous improvement and cost optimisation across the engineering function.   Qualification Requirements: * Minimum: Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. * Degree in Business Administration or Project Management will be an added advantage. * Member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia.   Experience & Skills Requirements: * Fifteen (15) years' experience in maintenance roles within mining, with at least eight (8) years in senior engineering or maintenance leadership, including experience leading teams through periods of significant operational growth or change. (Experience on Ultra Class equipment maintenance preferred). * Demonstrated experience leading maintenance of a large scale fixed process plant (concentrator) and a heavy mobile equipment fleet. * Demonstrated experience in asset management, reliability engineering, budgeting and capital projects delivery. * Must have strong leadership, people management, communication, problem solving and stakeholder management skills. * Desirable: * Experience leading engineering and maintenance through a major expansion, ramp up or owner operator transition. * Major project delivery, commissioning or operational readiness experience.   What We Can Offer You: * A comprehensive compensation package including bonuses and site-specific benefits * The ability to make a difference and lasting impact * Work in a dynamic, collaborative, progressive, and high-performing team * Opportunities to grow and learn with industry colleagues * Access to a variety of career opportunities across the organization   Barrick has a strong commitment to environmental, health and safety management.  Barrick offers employment opportunities to both qualified women and men.
