Description
This position is responsible for providing finance support on research and development spend. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to, program financial measurement and reporting, supporting new business proposals, business partnering with program management to provide analytical insights, driving center and functional productivity, timely and actionable reports to budget owner and funding business. This position will ensure that the tracking, reporting, and forecasting of gross R&D and program expenses as well as productivity is completed on a timely basis, lined up with external funding and product portfolio strategy, to provide forward looking analysis by program. The role will liaise with the engineering, program management and finance teams as well as program managers to drive changes. Monitor and communicate the project & program management spend and provide with interpretation of variances from plan, forecast, or baseline targets. Proactively assess deviations from plan, forecast, or baseline targets spend based on data and business partnership Develop and implement productivity measures; reflect on cost statements and report on regular intervals Business partner with program managers and functions (eg. IT, facility..) to control costs, mitigate risks and manage the budget; Analyze operational and financial data to indicate R&D spend effectiveness Prepare monthly report out on all major programs. Including updates on IRR, NPV etc. and spend variance analysis. Complete Estimate to Complete calculations (ETC) wherever required and ensure these are reviewed and approved by management Be an active participant in the pre & pro-launch process and specifically support Pro-launch gate reviews and provide all necessary financial analysis in a timely fashion. Assist in the preparation of strategic plans, annual profit plans, and monthly rolling forecasts for all major programs and for the Gross R&D budget within a portfolio of plants and programs. Support proposal management by participating in the development of financial analysis for all new program business proposals, capital investments, and potential new product endeavors. 18+ years of experience in finance field (business partnering, costing, pricing, accounting etc.) Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Costing or Management Accounting. (CA/MBA/CWA/CMA) Technical expertise in process and product costing and finance, specifically in application to commercial development and production contracts, Cost-benefit, Techno commercial analysis, engineering research and collaboration contracts etc Demonstrated strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills with ability to establish effective cross-functional relationships. Strong financial and analytical competence as well as planning and organizational skills Attention to detail and deadline-orientated focus Knowledge of computerized accounting systems to include word processing, spreadsheet software and integrated ERP / accounting systems (ie,Oracle/SAP, Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Power BI, Office 365 etc.) ProPM), timetracking applications (eg. Tenrox) will be advantageous.
