Description

WHAT WE DO:

The CIO for Technology team ensures that CommBank has a world-class engineering capability and is at the forefront of technology, using innovative and emerging technology to help our customer and support our Group Strategy.
We work hard to ensure that best practice, whether inside CommBank or outside in the broader technology ecosystem, is discovered, sheltered, nurtured, and spread to wherever else it can drive the most benefit for the Group and our customers.
We are actively involved in the technology community, contributing to education programs, innovation, research, and partnerships that will set Australia up for success as the economy transitions to a more digital future.

Responsibilities
  • Execute and maintain the end-to-end lifecycle of engineering standards, including documentation, communication, and technical enforcement.
  • Collaborate with engineering, architecture, security, and governance teams to implement and uplift engineering standards and frameworks.
  • Operate and evolve central repositories (e.g., GitHub, Confluence) for standards, approved technologies, and related documentation.
  • Coordinate regular content for communications channels (such as engineering newsletters and technical committees) to ensure standards and changes are visible and understood across the Group and in all circles.
  • Support technology radar and RFC (Request for Comment) processes, enabling engineers to propose, review, and adopt new technologies and practices.
  • Track adoption and effectiveness of standards, identifying opportunities for improvement and enhanced assurance.
  • Provide technical guidance in engineering governance activities, particularly around process lifecycle management and integration with existing systems and processes.
  • Get involved in other Engineering Practice streams of work when there is capacity to support our other key deliverables.
