About Okta’s Access Management Team
The Access Management team drives billions of authentications every month. The team builds and supports single sign-on, strong authentication, provisioning, and threat protection technologies. Our Access Management service runs in the cloud on a secure, reliable, extensively audited platform with 99.99% availability.
About the role
We’re seeking someone to lead and empower a dynamic team responsible for developing and maintaining Okta’s First-Party Applications. These include our end-user dashboard, the settings applications, the login page, the critical Sign-in Widget, and Okta browser plugins. These are Okta’s front gates, demanding unwavering availability as they provide the entry point to all our products and features.
As an Engineering Manager, you’ll inspire and guide a team of highly talented frontend and full-stack engineers. Job Duties

  • Lead, motivate, and inspire the team to unleash their full potential, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Collaborate with Engineering Leaders, Architects, Designers, Product Managers, and stakeholders to define the long-term vision and roadmap for projects.
  • Foster an environment of technical excellence, productivity, reliability, and simplicity, empowering the team to achieve and maintain high standards.
  • Actively engage in technical aspects, including contributing to design, code, and participating in design and code reviews when needed.
  • Drive the recruitment and professional growth of team members, nurturing their careers and facilitating skill development.
  • Facilitate agile project planning and execution for your teams and cross-functional coordination to ensure timely delivery.
  • Contribute to broader engineering initiatives to address business needs and strategic objectives.

Who you are

  • 7-8 years of experience in enterprise software development, demonstrating a solid technical background.
  • Proven track record of technical leadership for at least three years, showcasing practical leadership skills.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in JavaScript, React
  • Hands-on experience or deep understanding of browser plugin development.
  • Previous involvement in developing multi-tenant SAAS applications.
  • Willingness to be a player-coach, readily diving into user stories when necessary.
  • A genuine passion for cybersecurity and a customer-centric mindset.
  • Ability to thrive in a high-autonomy, high-responsibility environment.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively articulate and champion the work of your teams.

Below is the annual base salary range for candidates located in California, Colorado, New York and Washington. Your actual base salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in California (excluding San Francisco Bay Area), Colorado, New York, and Washington is between:$176,000—$264,000 USD
