Description
About the Role: In this role, you’ll be leading and growing a team of Technical Project Managers, guiding them with strategic direction, coaching, and performance support. Your focus will be on bringing consistency and efficiency to how we deliver projects by standardizing methodologies, tools, and best practices across engineering teams. You’ll work closely with product, engineering, and other leaders, manage budgets, and drive continuous improvement initiatives that make our PMO stronger and more effective. We’re looking for someone with 12+ years of experience, ideally someone who started out as a developer or tester in a product-based company and then transitioned into project management. If you’ve built PMO organizations from the ground up and have a passion for mentoring and coaching TPMs, this is the perfect opportunity for you. Key Responsibilities: Lead and develop a team of Technical Project Managers, providing strategic direction, coaching, and performance management. Drive standardization of project management methodologies, tools, and best practices across engineering teams to improve delivery consistency and efficiency. Establish and maintain PMO metrics, reporting frameworks, and dashboards to provide visibility into portfolio health, resource utilization, and delivery risks. Partner with Product, Engineering, and DevOps leadership to optimize resource allocation, project prioritization, and delivery roadmaps. Manage departmental budget, resource planning, and capacity forecasting to ensure optimal team performance. Build and maintain cross-functional relationships to align strategic initiatives and remove delivery impediments. Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on enhancing project management practices and team capabilities. Mentor and coach TPMs to build a strong PMO organization and foster a culture of accountability and excellence. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience. 12+ years of overall experience, with a strong foundation in software development or testing in a product-based company before moving into project/program management. At least 5 years of technical project/program management experience. Minimum 2 years of people management experience leading technical teams. Proven experience managing PMO operations or enterprise-wide project management initiatives. At least 3 years of experience with Agile methodologies and scaled Agile frameworks. Track record of successfully delivering large-scale technical programs. Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and DevOps practices. Preferred Qualifications: Project management certification such as PMP or Certified Scrum Master (CSM). Experience implementing and optimizing project management tools and processes at scale. Expertise in strategic planning and execution. Change management and organizational transformation experience. Strong stakeholder management and influence skills. Data-driven decision-making capabilities. Cross-functional leadership experience. Risk assessment and mitigation expertise.
