Home Campus: Fennell (hybrid work arrangements available; minimum 4 days/week on-site)
Rate of Pay: Payband 11 ($98,395 - $122,994 per year)

Reporting to the Director, Equitable Learning, Health & Wellness, the Manager, Equitable Learning is responsible for leading accessibility planning and the provision of the highest quality of care possible for Mohawk College students who have, or suspect they have, a disability. This includes leadership and direction to staff working in Accessible Learning Services and secondary support to the Health & Wellness team. The position is accountable for ensuring the institution meets all Ministry and Ontario Human Rights requirements when providing accessibility services to students.
The incumbent is responsible for gathering data and completion of ministry reporting while serving as a resource to college management on matters of accommodation for staff and students in relation to Human Rights as requested.

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE:

  • 4 year degree. Psychology, Disability Studies or Education preferred.
  • 5 years of experience leading and managing interdisciplinary teams in public, private sectors and/or the post-secondary academic, union environment including supervision of staff, and working with accommodation of persons with disabilities. Related experience in the field of accessibility may also be considered.
  • Demonstrates high skill in assessing urgent situations, managing critical incidents, and providing effective and timely responses, all while exercising exceptional judgment and sound decision-making under pressure.
  • Relevant recent experience in the direct provision of disability related services, specifically with the emerging adult population.
  • Demonstrates a deep understanding of equity principles, college policies, and relevant legislation.
  • Possesses comprehensive knowledge of funding sources that support students with disabilities, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and its regulations, as well as related legislation including the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC) and the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms—particularly as they pertain to the legal protections and rights of persons with disabilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to handle sensitive matters.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of case management and various ways to engage students with disabilities in services.
  • Budget forecasting, planning and management experience.
  • Experience and/or training in outcome-based program/service planning and evaluation.
  • Proven ability to supervise and manage the work of others, including addressing performance issues.
  • The ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse students, employees, and communities.
