ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We are currently looking for a full-time Manager, Events and Sponsorship, to join our team in Vancouver, BC.
Reporting to the President, the Events and Sponsorship Manager is a strategic leader responsible for the visioning, execution, and growth of VRCA’s event portfolio and sponsorship program. This role is central to enhancing the association’s member experience, industry presence, and revenue development, with a focus on high-impact programming across member categories.
In addition to overseeing event operations and sponsorship strategy, this role plays a critical part in partnering to build the VRCA brand, working with marketing to produce member-facing campaigns, managing external creative vendors, and generally collaborating cross-functionally to elevate the association’s value proposition.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Designing and delivering the full event lifecycle, from concept to execution, for 30+ events annually, ranging from intimate member mixers or dinners to flagship 1800-person galas, multi-day conferences, and themed double -shotgun golf tournaments
  • Shaping and leading the strategic direction of VRCA’s event programming and sponsorship approach in alignment with the association’s brand, growth goals, and member value strategy
  • Developing and executing integrated sponsorship strategies that support association-wide initiatives, including the creation of tiered benefit frameworks, annual sponsorship proposal, and activation plans for sponsors
  • Developing and managing event budgets, driving profitability across all initiatives
  • Leading the events team and setting performance standards for quality and consistency
  • Negotiating contracts with venues, providers, and subcontractors and managing related approvals
  • Partnering closely with the Communications team to lead all event-related marketing campaigns, including email marketing, social media, and sponsor promotions
  • Participating as a member of VRCA’s senior leadership team in organizational planning and goal setting
  • Creating detailed post-event reporting, debriefs, and recommendations to continuously improve programming and sponsor engagement
  • Creating work plans, conducting performance reviews, and supporting team development
  • Travelling as needed for site inspections and on-site event support
  • Contributing to organization-wide initiatives in collaboration with other teams

ABOUT YOU

To qualify, you will need a minimum of 8 years of experience in planning, managing, and promoting events, along with expert knowledge in event planning logistics for high-profile stakeholders including industry leaders, elected officials, CEOs, and national brand partners, and a proven track record in securing and growing sponsorship revenue. A valid BC driver’s license and access to a vehicle is required to travel to and from events.

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  • Experience negotiating sponsorships and partnership agreements
  • Strong understanding of events as engagement and advocacy tools
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly advanced features
  • Familiarity managing volunteer committees, vendors, and internal stakeholders
  • Budget management and reconciliation expertise
  • Knowledge of event marketing and promotional tactics
  • Experience with Asana or other project management software is an asset
