Job Summary The Fielding Manager will manage and coordinate the workflow and communication between members and field resources, while providing engineering feedback to internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate must possess a solid understanding of the technology, project life cycle, and applicable engineering practices. Responsibilities Provide leadership and mentor the fielding teams for OSP design Coordinate the Fielding function between both internal and external teams to ensure member needs are met Create and update as needed internal Field Engineering processes and work practices Ensure that established timelines in the project scope are met or exceeded in regard to technical engineering support and provide updates on status on a regular and as needed basis Act as a technical resource as needed for the member and internally to address fielding and design concerns Be a key member in the implementation of projects and ensure that timelines and budgetary requirements are defined and met Identify and address member concerns Demonstrate leadership by confidently making and standing behind difficult decisions. - Lead decisively, with the courage to make hard calls when required. Values open debate but confidently moves decisions forward. Doesn’t hold back anything that needs to be said; provides current, direct, complete, and “actionable” positive and constructive feedback to others in appropriate settings Handles people-related challenges head‑on and takes timely, decisive action when necessary (not limited to direct reports) Manage PTO accruals to ensure team members have regular PTO over any given year Work with internal and external teams to establish relationships and an understanding of work processes and procedures needed to meet member needs Ensure customer standards & processes related to FTTx deployment are understood with proposed/applied changes reviewed, and where applicable implemented (against both technical & commercial models) Act as a technical resource as needed for the member and internally to address engineering and design concerns Identify and address member concerns Undertake regular reviews to verify that NRTC Quality Objectives are being met and recommend corrective and/or preventive action as appropriate where opportunities for improvement are identified Proactively manage risks to the NRTC team and the members Report up any significant issues or concern as soon as they arise, including but not limited to any issues that may give rise to: Performance challenges with 1 or more team members Any unexpected and significant unfavorable impact on future revenue, or profits Work with HR in regards to the hiring process to fill vacancies, review resumes, interview applicants and make hiring decisions Other duties as assigned Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities High level of competency in using electronic devices, such as iPad, iPhone, laptop, file sharing, email, etc. Skilled in developing people, encouraging participation, mentoring, sharing knowledge, loyalty and commitment Skilled in creating an environment that encourages open communication and trust.
