In this dynamic position, you’ll orchestrate the preparation of consolidated IFRS financial statements for ATCO’s public companies, as well as Canadian stand-alone reports for our diverse subsidiaries. What You Get to Do: Public Company Reporting • Quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements and related notes for ATCO’s public companies • Generate financial information in the MD&A, AIF & Annual Report • Compile the variance analysis to support the financial statements and MD&A • Implement effective internal controls over public company reporting with appropriate documentation • Liaise both with external and internal auditors, and with financial personnel throughout ATCO • Support the business units regarding complex accounting matters • Coach, manage and train staff within the Public Company Reporting Financial Reporting team and oversee the provision of training to ATCO employees regarding financial statement disclosure Canadian Stand-Alone IFRS Reporting • Prepare quarterly and annual stand-alone financial statements for various Canadian private companies under international financial reporting standards • Provide support to business units in the preparation of their stand-alone financial statements • Implement effective internal controls over standalone financial statements with appropriate documentation Complex Accounting • Pension accounting, lease accounting, corporate derivative accounting and other complex accounting matters • Implement effective internal controls over pension accounting, lease accounting, corporate derivatives and other complex accounting matters with appropriate documentation • Oversee the preparation of technical accounting memos and assist in the implementation of new standards or changes to existing standards What You Bring: • Undergraduate degree in an applicable field • 7+ years of experience in an accounting or financial management environment • A professional Canadian accounting designation (CPA) • Significant exposure to senior management • Experience in financial reporting for large, diverse organizations • Possess an understanding of IFRS; able to research accounting issues • Strong analytical, organization and planning skills • Able to identify problems and facilitate problem resolution • Relate well to people at all levels, and be able to work effectively in a team environment • Well organized and able to meet tight deadlines with minimal direct supervision • Produce results with accuracy and a high quality of work • Attentive to detail and continuous improvement, coupled with the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing • Proficient with MS Office applications • Workiva experience is an asset • Prior experience in leading teams and providing mentorship What We Offer: • A culture based on caring, integrity, agility, collaboration, and striving for excellence • Competitive compensation • Flex benefits • Tuition assistance program • Training and mentorship programs • Charitable donation matching We would like to thank everyone for their application; however, only those being considered for an interview will be contacted.
