JOB DESCRIPTION

As the Manager, GHG & LCA, you will play a pivotal role in leading and managing teams and projects related to GHG inventory management and decarbonization strategies for our clients. Reporting to the Director of Operations, you will leverage recognized standards, protocols, frameworks, and methodologies to oversee organizational carbon footprint assessments, product LCAs, and decarbonization efforts. Additionally, you will lead a team to ensure successful project delivery and client satisfaction. This role combines technical expertise with strong leadership, strategic oversight, and client management responsibilities.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE

  • 10+ years of experience in carbon footprint and LCAs with a focus on GHG reduction and decarbonization.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills, with experience mentoring specialists and managing cross-functional teams.
  • Proven ability to develop, update, and implement site-level and portfolio-level decarbonization roadmaps, using industry-standard tools and methodologies.
  • Strong strategic thinking, project management, and organizational skills, with experience making high-level decisions that align with both client and company goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and refine processes, workflows, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to support GHG management and decarbonization initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proven ability to lead client relationships and engage with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in energy auditing and efficiency is considered an asset.

EDUCATION REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field), or a related discipline.
Responsibilities
  • Lead, manage, and mentor a team of specialists in executing comprehensive carbon footprint and life cycle assessments to quantify GHG emissions, identify reduction opportunities, and support strategic decision-making.
  • Provide leadership in developing and executing decarbonization strategies, ensuring they align with emission reduction targets, operational capacities, capital planning cycles, and client sustainability goals.
  • Oversee the prioritization of decarbonization initiatives using benchmarking tools, energy audits, and impact assessments at both portfolio and individual facility levels.
  • Take full ownership of project management, from setting goals and timelines to resource allocation and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Lead strategic discussions with clients, identifying long-term decarbonization goals and providing expert advice on aligning these goals with broader sustainability initiatives.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for high-level client communications, ensuring client satisfaction and ongoing engagement through regular updates and strategic insights.
  • Ensure clear documentation and smooth transitions from planning to implementation, monitoring project milestones and facilitating robust data management processes.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams and external stakeholders to optimize project workflows and deliver top-tier results.
  • Develop long-term strategic plans for decarbonization initiatives that align with GreenStep’s overall objectives and industry trends.
  • Ensure effective training and development of team members, fostering continuous improvement in GHG management and decarbonization practices.
  • Oversee technical, regulatory, commercial, and contractual aspects of GHG inventory and decarbonization projects, ensuring compliance with all applicable standards and client needs.
