The Manager, Global Markets Operations Settlements is accountable for the oversight and performance of Corporate Actions, Settlements, and Reconciliations activities within our Business Institutional & Market Operations (BIMO) business. Building on the processing, review, and control responsibilities, the role provides governance, escalation, and risk ownership to ensure positions, cash movements, and settlement outcomes are accurate, complete, and compliant with risk and control requirements. BIMO is a team of 400+ professionals who support our Markets, Treasury, CommSec, Trade Finance and Payments businesses globally. Markets Operations are responsible for the end-to-end trade lifecycle management & our settlements function support timely and accurate settlement of FX, Money Market, Fixed Income and OTC Derivatives products across CBA’s global network of clients The Role. As Manager, Settlement Operations, you will be accountable for the day‑to‑day management of Global Markets settlement and reconciliation activities across traded products, including Fixed Income, REPO, Money Market, and FX. Leveraging strong knowledge of Global Markets products, you will manage complex settlement events, Corporate actions & reconciliation breaks and operational issues, while using data, analytics and tools to strengthen controls, identify emerging risks and drive continuous improvement across settlement and post‑settlement processes. You will lead a team and partner with a global team from Global Markets and Treasury to ensure this operations team are supporting the front-office, sales and product partners in the correct capacity. You will work with both external clients and internal stakeholders of all levels across the Group from our Institutional Banking & Markets (IB&M), Treasury, Line 1&2 Risk and Technology business to drive strategy and improvements, whilst ensuring ongoing awareness and review of risks. Other responsibilities include: Provide end‑to‑end oversight of Settlements, Corporate Actions and Reconciliations across Global Markets products Ensure accurate and timely settlement, position and cash outcomes, in line with market cut‑offs, conventions and documented procedures Act as the escalation point for complex, high‑risk or time‑critical issues, including failed trades, funding shortfalls, Corporate Actions events and counterparty breaks Own governance, risk and control outcomes, ensuring compliance with policies, regulatory obligations and audit requirements Oversee cash, stock and position reconciliations, driving timely resolution of aged items, material breaks and data quality issues Partner closely with front office, product, custodians, data and technology teams to resolve issues and deliver sustainable process improvements Lead audit, risk review, incident and control attestation responses, identifying control gaps and implementing remediation Provide leadership and subject matter expertise to the team, coaching capability, reinforcing ownership and risk awareness Drive continuous improvement of SOPs, controls and processes, reducing manual workarounds and operational risk Skills & Experience Demonstrated experience in Market Operations with strong exposure to Corporate Actions, Settlements, and Reconciliations. Strong knowledge of Global Markets products including Fixed Income, REPO, Money Market, and FX. Proven leadership experience in an operational or control-focused environment. Strong understanding of settlement risk, reconciliation controls, escalation requirements, and audit expectations. Ability to exercise sound judgement when managing complex issues and risk-based decisions. Experience supporting audits, regulatory reviews, or operational risk incidents.
