About the Project
The Southern Program Alliance is contracted by Victorian Government to remove most dangerous and congested level crossings. This is a critical infrastructure project with significant public impact.

The Manager, Health & Safety is responsible for the delivery of safety management practices across specific sites involving the leadership of the Alliance Charter and the interests of all participants.
This role leads a team of Occupational Health and Safety to support the packages in achieving safety requirements in its works on site ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation.

Responsibilities

  • Guide and support the Program leadership teams to develop and implement a safety culture that aligns to the company vision, including adequate development and training in safety critical roles.
  • Ensure the projects maintains robust risk management processes, capability, focus, and discipline related to safety.
  • Investigate all causes of events on site and recommend actions to prevent future occurrences. All incidents are reported and investigated; the type and level of investigation will depend on the seriousness of the incident.
  • Maintain comprehensive safety records, manage statutory reporting requirements, and monitor safety performance progress.
  • Manage and support project safety advisors and coordinators (direct reports) to ensure values, behaviours and day to day performance is monitored.
  • Maintain an update-to-date knowledge of relevant legal, regulatory and company safety requirements, ensuring workplace are informed of relevant changes.
  • Manage the Safety budget for the package, including working with commercial team on monthly forecasting and budget reporting.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Tertiary Qualification in Health Safety or Equivalent.
  • Safety Lead Auditor Qualification (highly desirable) but NOT essential
  • Minimum 8 years as a safety professional with a minimum of 4 in a safety leadership role managing a team of safety professionals.
  • Minimum 5 years in a Construction and/or heavy industry and high-risk workplaces, Rail, Engineering, or other associated functional areas.
  • Knowledge of Safety legislation and statutes (especially those relating to WorkSafe), and ability to interpret any applicable statutes or legislation relevant to Project.
  • Current Driver Licence and your own reliable vehicle.
