Responsibilities

As the Manager Health & Safety for Rio Tinto Iron Ore (RTIO), you will lead the delivery of our Health and Safety Performance Plan, providing strategic oversight and technical expertise across the function. This pivotol role is responsible for guiding a team of health and safety professionals, ensuring best practice is embedded and aligned with critical risk management and compliance expectations.
Working closely with HSEC and operational leaders, you’ll translate strategy into action—driving safety performance, simplifying standards, and fostering a strong safety culture across all sites. This is a high-impact role focused on capability development, continuous improvement, and supporting RTIO’s goal to be the Best Operator.
Reporting to General Manager HSEC you will:

Lead the development and implementation of Rio Tinto Iron Ore’s Health and Safety Performance Plan, providing strategic guidance across diverse teams.

  • Manage and support a multidisciplinary team of health and safety professionals, encouraging continuous learning, collaboration, and high performance.
  • Partner with HSEC and operational leaders to strengthen safety culture and maturity through targeted programs such as the Safety Maturity Model.
