About the Team: The Hospitality, Tourism and Event team at VU is focused on educating and training professionals for the cookery, hospitality, tourism and events industries. The team works across education and industry engagement to support students and strengthen industry connections. The team delivers a wide range of courses at vocational (TAFE level, including cookery, hospitality, tourism and events. Courses are designed to blend theory with practical experience, ensuring students graduate with industry-relevant skills and knowledge. About the Role: The Manager, Hospitality is a pivotal role in the successful delivery of contemporary vocational education and training. The role focuses on leading and managing staff, planning programs, and ensuring financial accountability of the Hospitality, Tourism and Event team within the College of Trades, Technology and Hospitality. This position facilitates the continuous development and growth of domestic and international students through the programs offered. Position Key Duties: Managing financial responsibilities, including operating budgets Overseeing administrative functions and academic delivery processes Leading, managing, and supporting staff to achieve effective performance outcomes Developing and maintaining key internal and external relationships to ensure all obligations are met Ensuring compliance with ASQA, VRQA, and HESG service agreement requirements across the department Classification: Senior Educator Level 3 Salary: $129,129.00 per annum plus 17% superannuation Employment Type: Fixed term, 8 months Hours: 38 per week Location: Footscray Nicholson Campus For a detailed overview of the role’s duties and responsibilities, please refer to the Manager, Hospitality Position Description About You: Our management team is looking for someone with a: Relevant graduate/postgraduate qualification in hospitality, tourism and events, or a related field, along with senior-level experience in the TAFE sector Sound ability to plan, develop, implement and review outputs and projects ensuring their alignment to the VU TAFE’s Operational Plan Good understanding of the day-to-day operations of TAFE delivery and demonstrated capacity to take on a leadership role In-depth knowledge of TAFE regulatory and compliance frameworks, with a broad understanding of university operations Strong commitment to inclusive practice, staff and student wellbeing, and embedding occupational health and safety responsibilities into everyday operational culture The University is a Child Safe organisation.
