About the role AGL’s HSE Systems, Reporting and Governance team have an opportunity for a Manager, HSE Management System. Based in Melbourne or Sydney, this role plays a critical part in shaping how health, safety and environment is embedded across AGL. You’ll lead the design, implementation and continuous improvement of AGL’s HSE Management System, ensuring strong alignment with ISO 45001 and consistent application across both the enterprise and individual business units. With influence across all levels of the organisation, you’ll drive compliance, proactively manage risk, and strengthen a positive, sustainable safety culture across diverse operational environments. Working in close partnership with the HSE Leadership Team, you’ll help set strategic direction while leading initiatives and projects that translate strategy into practical, measurable improvements in HSE performance. What you’ll be doing: Leading AGL’s enterprise Health, Safety and Environment Management System (HSE MS), ensuring consistent application and continual improvement, fully aligned with ISO 45001, regulatory requirements and organisational risk priorities. Coordinating and overseeing internal audits and assurance activities of HSE MS and assisting in the development and/or implementation of corrective actions. Owning enterprise HSE training strategy, TNA and governance, ensuring HSE training is aligned to the HSE MS, regulatory requirements and workforce capability across the organisation. Leading cross-functional teams across the organisation, ensuring the HSE MS is aligned with and enabling the attainment of organisational strategic goals. What you’ll bring: Relevant tertiary qualification in Health & Safety, Environment, Engineering, Technology or a related field, with ISO 45001 Lead Auditor certification (or equivalent). Deep knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001, with experience thoughtfully designing, implementing and sustaining HSE management systems across complex organisations. A collaborative leader who brings people together, builds trust across teams, and nurtures a positive, values led safety culture in diverse operational environments. Capability in HSE assurance, risk management and audits, with a considered and solutions focused approach to continuous improvement. Ability to influence and confidently engage with stakeholders at all levels and translating legislative and regulatory requirements into clear, practical outcomes. Applications close 15 April.
