Responsibilities

POSITION PURPOSE

The position has been created to support further development of financial reporting and accounting processes (‘Record-To-Report’ or ‘R2R’), data, and infrastructure for IFRS of Sagicor USA (SUSA), Sagicor Life Insurance Company (SLIC), and Sagicor Reinsurance of Bermuda Limited (SRBL).
Primary responsibilities will be focused on design new processes, data, infrastructure, or redesign existing components of current reporting and control environments. In addition to the primary responsibilities, part of the role would be development of an accounting policy and its application to the existing control environment (Standard Operating Procedures, accounting playbooks, etc.), adapting and testing technology and data that will be used for IFRS 17 Sagicor Group reporting, and updating controls to ensure alignment with the new reporting standard. Monitoring, optimization, and support the IFRS 17 financial reporting process to ensure an effective and efficient execution will also be important success factors for the role. In addition to the IFRS reporting requirements, the person will also support a re-design and transformation of other reporting processes on as needed basis. The eventual goal would be to streamline the financial reporting process across all reporting basis in terms of shortening the production and financial analysis phases, strengthening controls and align technology with business growth and complexity.

Other duties/responsibilities concerning financial processes for SUSA/SLIC/SRBL:

  • Support preparation of quarterly and annual reporting documents for local IFRS, statutory, and group reporting, ensuring consistency across reporting standards for SLIC and SRBL.
  • Support FP&A function in preparation of quarterly supplemental reporting materials and board reporting documentation for both SLIC and SRBL
  • Perform and document all controls as designed for the IFRS reporting. Also proactively review and recommend updates to the IFRS control framework.
  • Support managing of accounting policy, accounting policy application and operational challenges as they arise ensuring minimal disruption to reporting timelines.
  • Research and analyze the impact of business initiatives and new or existing transactions, including the preparation of IFRS technical accounting papers.
  • Support business-as-usual analysis and reporting through ad hoc requests, as needed.
  • Ensure auditability of all IFRS 17 reporting components.
  • Lead IFRS 17 User Acceptance Testing for updates to key reporting systems (RI Updates, IFRS 17 integration of new product launches, and other recurring IT environment changes)
