Description
This position is an on-site role based in Colby, Kansas. This is your fast track into restaurant management — and it starts on day one. As a Manager in Training at Jimmy John's in Colby, you'll learn to lead a team, manage food and labor, and run shifts at the speed Jimmy John's is known for. This is a paid, hands-on training program designed to get motivated people into a Shift Manager or Assistant Manager role and for the right person, even further. You won't sit in a classroom you'll be on the line, behind the counter, and leading shifts alongside experienced managers who will show you how it's done. Throughout the program, you'll be evaluated on how you're progressing. If you're picking it up and showing the right drive, you'll move into a management position and depending on your experience and performance, that timeline can accelerate. If you already have management experience, you may move through training even faster. We take care of the people who show up and put in the work. You'll get time off when needed and work in a store where the team actually enjoys being there. We're also part of a growing company, so for the right person, this role is just the starting point. There are additional leadership opportunities within our company for people who earn them. Responsibilities Lead shifts and learn to manage team performance, speed, and quality in a fast-paced environment. Train on food cost and labor management and understanding the business, not just the day-to-day. Handle customer issues directly, building the confidence and judgment to solve problems on the spot. Maintain food safety and sanitation standards as a daily habit, not a checklist. Manage inventory and stock levels to keep the store running efficiently. Keep the store clean, organized, and running at a standard you'd be proud to put your name on. Complete a structured training program with ongoing evaluations to prepare you for a full management role. Must be at least 18 years old. Must be eligible to work in the U.S. Full-time availability preferred, but we can work with the right person. Management or shift lead experience is a plus but motivation and willingness to learn matter more. We'll consider the right candidate on a case-by-case basis. Comfortable working at a fast pace and staying focused when it gets busy. Strong communicator who can lead a team and connect with customers. Dependable - you show up, you follow through, and people can count on you. Comprehensive benefits eligibility as you advance into management. Performance-based raises tied to training milestones and leadership growth. Free employee meals every shift. Flexible scheduling during training to support your development. Paid training with hands-on mentorship from experienced operators. A clear path from trainee to manager with additional leadership opportunities within the company for those who earn them.
