DEPARTMENT INFORMATION

The Department of Health and Social Services works under the direction of the Minister and Deputy Minister, in partnership with the Health and Social Services Authorities, to support the health and wellbeing of people across the NWT through planning, development, evaluation and reporting on program and service delivery.
HSS is committed to the development and provision of quality services in such a way as to make the best use of public resources, ensure the sustainability of the system, focus on client safety and best practices and promote positive health and social outcomes. HSS strives to continually improve the health and social service system to ensure best health, best care, and a better future for the people of the NWT.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

• A Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, Health Informatics, or related field; with major in Management Information Systems, and five (5) years of relevant informatics experience, including 1 year of project leadership or supervisory experience.
• Related fields would include, but are not limited to Bachelor of Management - Information Systems; Bachelor of Technology - Digital Health; Bachelor of Health Information Science; Bachelor of Science Health Informatics; Bachelor of Commerce with specialization in Management Information Systems (MIS); etc.

• Lead the development of strategy and policy to support eHSS Systems development across the HSS system.
• Provide expert advice, systems and materials to support the evaluation of eHSS Systems proposals, activities and initiatives.
• Establish and maintain relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders.
• Ensure effective risk management processes are in place to support eHSS Systems activities.
• Manage the unit, including employees, budget and financial management, contract management, and overseeing the general operations of the section.
• Support effective financial management with the Division.
