We are looking for someone who has experience in and knowledge of the schooling sector and associated legislation.

You will offer:

  • experience in building relationships and influencing change to achieve outcomes
  • an ability to interpret and use data and insights to identify trends, risks and opportunities
  • strong engagement and communication skills, including experience of providing high quality and timely advice – written and verbal
  • the ability to work as part of an inclusive and integrated team delivering services to the education sector across a diverse range of settings (this includes working collaboratively with others to solve problems and complete tasks)
  • a strong understanding of and the ability to apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangata whenuatanga
  • knowledge of te reo and tikanga Māori
  • a full current driver licence as travel will be required
  • the ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

A relevant tertiary qualification with experience across the education or government sector is essential, preferably in a leadership role within a school. You may also have a learning support, Māori education, Pacific education, or other specialist education background.

You will be able to demonstrate:

  • previous people and operational leadership experience in a complex environment
  • proven experience in developing and managing integrated work programmes, building capability and leading change
  • the ability to build relationships and partnerships with multiple stakeholders.

To do this, the MIS leads a team of experts across education, curriculum, and learning support to deliver a highly responsive, accessible and integrated local support function for education providers, ākonga and whānau. Specifically, your team will:

  • Support delivery of the learning support delivery model and learning action plans.
  • Provide support to learning and education support specialists.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across your region and the motu to share information, insights, and improvements.
  • Embed Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles into all activities and reporting roles.
  • Provide a cohesive and strong connection for Te Mahau as the primary relationship holder with those the Ministry serves, in conjunction with regionally based Leadership Advisor and Strategic Advisor Māori colleagues

    Do you have a passion for improving educational achievement for all students/ākonga, particularly Māori and Pacific learners, and those with learning support needs? Are you currently working in the education sector and need a new challenge?
    There is a lot going on in the education system to improve attendance and achievement through a knowledge-rich curriculum grounded in the science of learning. We are also working to strengthen other areas, such as learning support interventions and the development of the education workforce. Our role is to work with the education sector to implement these and other priorities – including through proactive, consistent supports and services from our regional teams.
    The Manager, Integrated Services (MIS) develops and implements functional strategies, priorities and work programmes to support achievement of outcomes aligned to the Ministry’s purpose and agreed strategies.

To do this, the MIS leads a team of experts across education, curriculum, and learning support to deliver a highly responsive, accessible and integrated local support function for education providers, ākonga and whānau. Specifically, your team will:

Salary range: $142,856-$214,284 per annum. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.
