The role is required to apply ASPE and IFRS technical knowledge and analytical skills in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the financial records for all responsible investments. The incumbent is also responsible for working closely within the IA&R team, and establishing a close working relationship with other departments within Finance as well as Information Technology (IT) business partners.

What you will do:

  • Provide support as required by the Associate Director to oversee the work and deliverables prepared by a team of analysts. This support encompasses coaching of staff, delegating and reviewing work performed by the staff as well as monitoring and providing continuous feedback.
  • Review and approve manual journal entries prepared by staff for posting to the General Ledger.
  • Review and approve the month-end reporting package on a timely basis to comply with monthly and quarterly reporting timelines. Review back-dated corrections and trade amendments made by Investment Operations to ensure that the changes are processed in the correct accounting period.
  • Lead the team in analyzing the monthly, quarterly, and annual fluctuations and variances of HOOPP’s investment balances and income. Assist the Associate Director in preparing the monthly and quarterly reporting to the CFO and Audit & Finance committee, including preparing a summary of the market conditions and/or other factors behind the fluctuations in the financial results for public market investments. Collaborate with the Financial Reporting team to provide clear and concise reporting of monthly, quarterly and annual fluctuations as part of these deliverables.
  • Assist the Associate Director in gathering information required to address Board questions and/or requests for information.
