QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Geology, Finance or a related field
  • Post-graduate qualification or equivalent experience would be beneficial
  • 10-20 years of progressive experience in investment analysis, corporate finance, or capital project evaluation within the mining sector
  • Deep understanding of capital budgeting, discounted cash flow analysis, and deterministic and probabilistic financial modeling with a strong command of financial modeling tools and software
  • Familiarity with mining-specific financial and operational metrics
  • International experience with large-scale capital projects across the full lifecycle, from scoping and pre-feasibility to execution and closure, with preference for jurisdictions such as Canada, the USA, Mexico, Peru, and Chile
  • Confirmed ability to synthesize sophisticated technical and financial data into clear, actionable insights
  • Outstanding project management skills for effectively coordinating cross-functional teams with diverse priorities in a fast-paced setting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing board-level materials and presenting to senior leadership
  • Proven ability to deliver positive results while developing talent and encouraging long-term collaborative relationships
  • High level of integrity, sound judgment, and the ability to maintain confidentiality and independence
  • Self-motivated, resourceful, and adaptable, with a hands-on, ambitious demeanour and a “roll-up-the-sleeves” approach
  • Proficiency in Spanish would be an asset
  • Availability for travel as needed
    Pay Range: CAD $147,000 - $182,000 per year
    The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.

Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW

As a member of the Investment Office, the Manager, Investment Analysis will play a meaningful role in supporting strategic investment decisions across Teck’s portfolio. They will be responsible for managing the evaluation of capital projects and other investments, ensuring alignment with corporate strategy and value creation objectives.
The Manager, Investment Analysis will take charge of examining and assessing investments to assist Investment Committee decision-making. This role will also function as a source to lead the development of detailed business propositions that will be prepared for financial examination and appraisal.
The role requires considerable financial proficiency, mining industry insight, and the ability to collaborate across technical and commercial teams. This position is based in Vancouver, BC, and travel to office and project locations may be required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Guide the development and execution of investment analysis and evaluation for investments of all types including capital projects and critical initiatives
  • Conduct detailed evaluations of financial modeling and scenario analyses to support investment decisions
  • Develop investment analysis and evaluation plans for all investments to support prior endorsement from the Investment Committee
  • Implement endorsed investment analysis and evaluation plans, engaging internal and external SMEs as needed, and deliver clear recommendations on investment readiness
  • Collect and maintain investment and cost benchmarking data to support consistent, data-driven evaluations
  • Build and sustain positive relationships with internal and external SMEs involved in investment evaluations and project reviews
  • Contribute to due diligence tasks and special projects tied to mergers, acquisitions, and other central initiatives
  • Sustain and improve investment evaluation tools and methodologies
  • Track and report on investment performance, including post-completion reviews
